- Disappointed Devoted Fan

Even though I appreciate the music of Mexico, I did not feel that this album was special. None of the pieces had the Yanni touch. It was Mexican music I have heard hundreds of times before and could have been released by any artist. Nothing about this album said it was from Yanni. Other than Yanni's picture on the front, I would never had thought it had anything to do with Yanni.

So I have to ask, Yanni, what has happened to you? Where is your original compositions? I miss hearing music YOU have composed. Even though recycling is en vogue, I don't think you should apply it to your music (ie, Voices) and now this album. I really love your music, but I have been so disappointed in your offerings these past few years. Maybe you should take a year off touring (even though I LOVE seeing you perform live) and spend that year soul searching and come up with some NEW, ORIGINAL music. As a devoted fan, it pains me to give your music 1 star. So Please, Please, Please, write some NEW music and come back next year with a wonderful album.

- TERRIBLE

Yanni is my most favorite artist in the entire world. This CD was a waste of money for me and a waste of my time for listening to it. How could he have made this CD? Please Yanni come back with what you did before......

- I didn't care for this one. Listen to the samples first..

After listening to the samples, mostly all of them sounded too much of the "Mariachi"/Norteño sounds which is heard in most Mexican music. I felt the vocals and trumpets sounds could have been left out (in most of the songs) which greatly interrupted Yanni's piano/orchestrated & melodic flowing tunes. The only real song that I liked was "La Bakina". "La Bakina" didn't have any vocals and less trumpet usage. Furthermore, "La Bakina" sounded like Yanni's unique style.

- This is not typical Yanni music

Yanni has created awesome music (and videos) with the Tribute and Yanni Voices projects. This CD just doesn't have the Yanni sound, the fiery arrangments, the stellar performances or the aura of greatness that one would expect. Tracks 10 and 11 have hints of typical Yanni. It's hard to understand why he would lend his name to this project. I have to agree with another reviewer that parts of it are like elevator music: familiar and mediocre.

- Mexicanisimo

I am so sad to say that I am disappointed about this Mexicanisimo music Cd. If it would have been from some other artist, I would say it is ok, but not from Yanni. Yanni is like Mozart for this time and age, Yanni is a genius, but with this cd it feels like he has lost the inspiration totally. There is no creativity at all, and I know he could have taken the same songs he chose for this cd and transform them into musical jewels, but he didn't.

I am a songwriter too and sometimes I just want to create simple songs, but this cd is just not even simple, but not good. Simplicity doesn't mean ugly.
