Xavier Rudd's sound is a logical extension of the sound Ben Harper established on Fight For Your Mind, but has since abandoned. He combines folk, reggae, blues, funk and rock with sparse, acoustic instrumentation based around Weissenborn guitars, but in a twist, he adds some funk didgeridoo, and using looping, he plays a riff on one instrument, then improvises around it on another. He is at his best live, and this is a good live album, but I find it somewhat less satisfying than Good Spirits (see my review of Good Spirits). There is some overlap in the set list, but I find the versions on Good Spirits more interesting. The set lists are sufficiently different that it is worth it to own both, and the tracks that appear here but not on Good Spirits are quite good. I just find his playing a bit more lively on Good Spirits. Buy this one without hesitation, though, if you are a Xavier Rudd fan.
