. This is great stuff. Willie really makes any song he sings his own. Willie singing classic songs, you can't go wrong.

- This collection may just prove that Willie Nelson is America's greatest singer.

If one were to list the most popular and best songs from the best Songwriters of America;it is a cood bet that most would be those in this collection. While Willie is among America's most prolific Songwriters himself;in this collection he signs songs of others. All these songs are immediately identified and associated with others, when you hear Willie sing them,it makes you wonder if they were really meant to be sung by him from the beginning.I guess that is the truest litmus test of both a song and a singer; that the really great singers can take a great song and "make it their own"

If you happen to be one of those who thinks that Willie Nelson is only a great Western singer, you will be simply astounded by his intrepertation of these songs.

Just imagine taking these songs that we have loved through the years and think what it would be like if they were all sung by the same singer.I suppose there are a few singers who could do this ,possibly Frank Sinatra,Ray Charles,Louis Armstrong and some others;but certainly none could do it better than Willie.

Sit back and enjoy these songs as you have never heard them sung;

Georgia On My Mind

Moon River

One For My Baby

Blue Skies

Autumn Leaves

Tenderly

I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter

What A Wonderful World

Some Enchanted Evening

Exactly Like You

Over The Rainbow

Without A Song

Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive

and

Stardust

- Willie Just Can't Miss On This One

Everybody has jumped on board the American Standards bandwagon. Carly Simon tried it way back in the mid-eighties with "Torch". Harry Nilsson's "A Little Bit Of Shmilsson In The Night" worked for him. Rod Stewart devoted three complete albums Songbooks One, Two and Three. Why hell even Barry Manilow has jumped into the frey.

But Willie!!!... Man!!! Willie's been sigin' Tin-Pan-Alley for years! How can you possibly fault his renditions of Star Dust, Accenuate The Positive, What A Wonderful World, Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Moon River? Why hell!!!...He's Willie!!!...And when he's sigin' Johnny Mercer, Irving Berlin and Hoggy Carmichael how can he miss?...No way!!! S**t you can keep all those other records I mentioned earlier. "The Great American Songbook" by Willie Nelson is all you really need if you want to hear heart-felt reditions of these fine old classics. No Risk Disc? Why Hell...If you don't love it I'll even offer your money back in full. That's right I mean it.... Take me at my word. Sincerely, Bill Gates
