Análisis - Amazon.com
Wannabe pop queen Willa Ford disses "cheesy (lyrics) about butterflies, sunshine and candy" in the liner notes of her debut album. She might actually score the attempted points against the likes of Mariah Carey and Mandy Moore if her own songs didn't cling desperately to a handful of similarly radio-ready templates. Here horny ("I Wanna Be Bad"), there bitchy ("Joke's on You"), everywhere wistfully lookin'-for-love ("Tender," "Prince Charming"), Ford hardly stakes out her own vocal turf either. She draws on third-hand Britney affectations and the occasional Carey-like dog-whistle squeal, while various production teams cobble together similarly derivative tracks. Ford's romantic fireworks with a Backstreet Boy brought her a small notoriety long before this CD's appearance, and "Tired" makes it clear that she already considers herself a big-enough name that listeners will respond to gripes about fame she hasn't yet achieved. - (3-1/2 stars) Underrated

There's more to Amanda Williford (no, Willa Ford isn't her real name) than being Nick Carter's ex-girlfriend and making a sorry guest spot on the short-lived "Raising Dad". She has a very good singing voice, and she also has a unique style about herself (dress and subject matter).

If you're looking for a Britney Spears or Mandy Moore-esque album, then look somewhere else. Willa tells us straight off that she's not about that on "Tired", even though that song could use a rewrite or two. The only other thing most people know about her is her nasty-girl image, as shown on the hit "I Wanna Be Bad" (though that song features a very generic rap from Royce Da 5'9"); her nasty side continues to show on "Don't You Wish" and "Ooh Ooh". She cuts a cheatin' man loose on "Did Ya Understand That", but on "Tender", the only slow jam, she adequately explains actions like that.

Sometimes Willa's style may not be relatable to many people, particularly the last two songs ("Haunted Heart" and "Dare"), but as I said before, her style is unique (eerie, perhaps). "Prince Charming" is good until she starts giving shout-outs, and the bridges to "Don't You Wish" and "Joke's On You" sound a little off-key. But this album still deserves a listen. It's not exactly one of those rush-out-and-get-it albums, but it's worth a listen.

- Wish I could have given it zero stars

'Willa Was Here' is easily one of the worst CDs I have ever heard. It is overproduced, run-of-the-mill, cliched, low-quality teenybopper pop accompanied by the most annoying, untrained, screeching voice I've ever heard. The lyrics are downright silly (not "bad" at all!) and no amount of computer regurgitation can make Willa's "singing" even listenable. I felt embarrassed for Ms. Ford just listening to this horrible mess.

Mind you, I didn't purchase this -- I downloaded it to see if she was really worth all the hype she's getting. Two words for the thinking public -- DON'T BUY.

- A Decent Pop Album

Alright, I know everybody makes fun of Willa for acting just the way she says she hates, and dating Nick Carter, and all that, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Her album "Willa Was Here" has some really catchy pop beats, decents vocals, and overall good songs. Yeah, it sounds like Britney Spears, so what? It's a good CD, and should be reviewed according to the music, not Willa's personal life and flings with boy band members. Yes, all of her songs sound pretty much the same, but hey, why change a good thing?

1. I Wanna Be Bad - A really catchy song. It's got a great hook, and the vocals are moderatly good. 10/10

2. Did Ya' Understand That - Not as good as I Wanna Be Bad, but decent. It sounds more R&B that pop, which is cool. 7/10

3. Ooh Ooh - Great vocals, and a good beat. Lacks that bang that's required to be a hit, though. 7/10

4. Tired - My 2nd favorite song. (#1 is I Wanna Be Bad) It's got a super-catchy tune, and the lyrics are great. 10/10

5. Joke's On You - Really mechanical sounding, which I guess is what pop is all about. It's fun, though, and has a great beat. 9/10

6. Tender - The first ballad sounds like a filler track to me. It's not just beautiful like great ballads are. Just sort of, blah. 6/10

7. Don't You Wish - Another really good song. It's catchy, and is great for dancing to. 9/10

8. Prince Charming - This one, yet again, has a great beat. The lyrics are about as corny as possible, but the vocals are okay. 8/10

9.Somebody Take the Pain Away - A really generic pop song. It's got a beautiful intro. Good, but not great. 7/10

10. Haunted Heart - I really like this song. It sounds like a song from Britney Spears' "Britney" album. It's all-around catchy. 9/10

11. Dare - This song is typical of the last song. It's sort of a filler, but not quite. This one is good enough. I listen to it sometimes. 7/10

Overall, Willa's CD is perfect for pop fans. Remember, think about the music, not Willa herself. Overall Rating: 8/10

- Finally a blonde singer thats writes her music!

Being a dedicaterd Willa fan for 2 years this album was totally worth it. Im not just sayign that because Im a fan but this CD is awesome if you like pop, hip pop, or r&b. Okay lets begin!

I Wanna Be Bad- Everyone had heard thos song by now. It is really catchy, well produced. Willa wrote this song. It doesn't show off her vocals as well as some other songs do. Did Ya Understand That? - Willa also wrote this. This is a catchy urban girl- power type song. A theme you will find a lot of this CD. This is her confirmed next single. It is a very fast up-tempo.

Ooh Ooh- This song shows Willa's vocal and writing talent off well. Well you know those mouse high notes you only hear Mariah doing? Well Willa does them and hold them for a long time on this song. It is a little slower than the previous 2 but still an up-tempo.

Tired- This is kinds like "The Real Slim Shady" of the album. It talks about how pop music is becoming all the same and bland. It also talks about how the industry tries to screw you over. "Manufacted? This is now the pop industy. I know cause they tried to do it to me. Don't let them take away your eyes. Stop the sweet talk and lies" A very catchy up tempo!

Jokes On You- A very girl power up tempo. Very R&B. "Everytime you thought I would be true and everytime you played around I did too. Well baby now I guess the jokes on you." Willa also wrote this. Her vocals are very full on this song and powerful.

Tender- This is the only song Willa did not write on the album. Its the big ballad of the CD. It is on the Spyder Games Soundtrack. It is very pretty and it shows Willa's vocals very nicely. A cute pop ballad.

Don't You Wish- This is Willa's fav song on the CD> It is very catchy. It is an up- tempo. Not very girl powerish though. It one of those crush songs.

Prince Charming- This is an up-tempo.Sounds a lot like a Britney Spears song but a lot more urban. Willa does a lil rapping on this. This song is about Willa's ideal man. She names a few in here including Kobe Bryant, Mattt Damon, Leo, and Sisqo.

Somebody Take The Pain Away- To the Willa fans this song is very old but good. This was the first song Willa recorded for this album. It uses a sample in the beginning. Willa does some operah towards the end. The title sounds like a ballad but it is actually a refreshing up-tempo.

Haunted Heart- This is a mid -tempo, kinda ballad song. Willa says the lyrics mean a lot to her. The lyrics are beautiful. Willa's vocals are soft and breathy on this track.

Dare- This song is an up-tempo. The only one Im not too sure about. It is half good. Its very diffrent.

All in all I know a lot of people (mainly BSB fans) are gonna say this album sucks and I guarente they will bring Nick into it just watch. Well all I have to say is it figures fans of a boyband would care about who dates who rather than the music. When it comes down to it let this msuic speak for itself. In my opinion this album is refreshing because it gives hope that pop music will change for the better and pop artist will start writing their own music.
