- An excellent sampler of late-1960's Waylon

Originally released on vinyl by RCA subsidiary Camden in 1972, this album features country classics-Waylon Jennings style.

The songs appeared on various albums between 1966 and 1968. And it is telling that six of the album's nine songs are written or co-written by Harlan Howard. (Five of those six were originally released on 1967's "Waylon Sings Ol' Harlan").

If you have the album, and wish to get a pristine version of some classic Waylon, or a new fan wishing to hear some new stuff, go for this one.

- Don't Bother

As the previous reviewer mentioned, this album was originally released in 1972 and contains songs that had already appeared on Waylon albums from the late '60s. These albums are available elsewhere, so there is no need to get this CD.

Four of the nine songs here were on the album "Waylon Sings Ol' Harlan (Howard)" (his third RCA album). Of the others, "You're Gonna Wonder About Me", "(That's What You Get) For Lovin' Me", "Time to Bum Again", and "Leavin' Town" were on Waylon's second RCA album "Leavin' Town". These two ablums have been combined to one CD now available called "2 Gether On One". It is a much better value than this one.

The remaining song is "Folsom Prison Blues". It is of course, a Johnny Cash song, not a Waylon Jennings one. Waylon's version originally appeared on an album entitled, "Jewels" from 1968 which is not currently in print. If you really must have Waylon's cover of this song, you can get it with this CD or with another mediocre compilation album, "Ladies Love Outlaws" (not to be confused with Waylon's actual album with that title from 1972). Otherwise, get "2 Gether On One" and ignore this CD.
