Review - Amazon.com
Drawn from Waylon's 20 restless years with RCA, we hear him constantly challenging and reinventing himself. Waylon understood simplicity, and heeded Buddy Holly's advice to master rhythm. Few more rhythmically adventurous country records were ever made. Rooted for the greater part in the '70s when Waylon was at his commercial and artistic peak, this 16-song collection includes classics like "Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line," "Good Hearted Woman," "Waymore's Blues," "Just to Satisfy You," "Storms Never Last," and 11 others. It's hard to fault each song individually, save to say that most of them come from albums which deserve to be heard in their entirety. --Colin Escott

- Almost Perfect

This is a pure, break-out-the-brown-whiskey, honky tonk collection. The only fallacy is that it lacks Luckenback, Texas. How any Waylon cd can neglect this and include What Ever Happened to the Blues is beyond me. Other than this, it's perfect.

- This album covers the broad spectrum of Waylons' life.

This album contains songs from just about every era in Waylons long career. From early to late these songs will help you to 'understand' Waylon through his music. You'll recognize many of these songs and will find yourself singing and tapping your toes to the beat. I belive this one recording is a MUST for any Waylon fan or someone who is currious about his music. You will be hooked after listening just once. I give it a 5 star rating and hope you will enjoy his best lifes effort to bring America Good country music from the soul.

- Half Essential

The Essential Series by RCA, which this cd is a part of, rarely lives up to its title(The newer RCA Legends series, despite having fewer tracks, tends to do a better job). Like most Essential cd's, the first half of this cd is filled with great songs by a truly great artist. Many of the songs on the second half, however, have no business whatsoever being on a Waylon Jennings compilation, especially when there are countless Outlaw classics that could take their place.

- *I was not disappointed*

I drive an older car with the audio tape player function. This tape plays whenever the wheels on my car are rolling! I was so fortunate to get this tape in mint condition, and at a great price. Whether you want the audio tape or cd, you can't beat the songs, and there are a lot of them: "Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line, Brown-eyed Handsome Man, The Taker, Good Hearted Woman, You Asked Me To, Amanda, Rainy Day Woman, Waymore's Blues, Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way, Wild Side Of Life/It Wasn't God Who Made Honky-Tonk Angels, The Wurlitzer Prize, Theme From The Dukes of Hazzard, Storms Never Last, Just To Satisfy You, Lucille (You Won't Do Your Daddy's Will), Never Could Toe The Mark, America, The Broken Promise Land." Two of my favorites that are hard to find were Brown-eyed Handsome Man, and Never Could Toe The Mark, and I am really enjoying these especially; although I love them all. In my humble opinion, it just doesn't get much better than this if you love Waylon!

- Fantastic!

I bought this a few years ago, and still love it! I was always a Waylon fan and saw him in concert quite a few times. This CD is great!
