- ......My Story......

well...im only 15 years old & i've been into reggae my whole life...i've been into UB40 my WHOLE life,too...actually that's how i got into reggae...my dad was and still is a big UB40 fan.(THANX DAD)he used to play their songs 24/7...im serious! he used to sing me to sleep with UB40 songs...he lives in seattle and i live in hawaii.i never seen him since he moved to seattle with his new wife...i miss him...alot.but i feel that their music keeps us in touch some how...so i think that this cd should be bought because all of their songs have a very special message in them.i think who ever buys this cd will definently enjoy it...you wont regret it.

- Good stuff, but too few tracks

The only disappointing thing about this CD is that it has four less tracks than the "[import]" version also available from Amazon.com. Otherwise, this album has the most popular tracks of the band of recent times with "Kingston Town" being the central track. The tracks are fun, rhythmic, and light. Get it.

If you're new to UB40, expect 80's and 90's reggae-like pop. In other words, it's reggae that has been "adjusted" towards the tastes of those of us who enjoy pop, and perhaps hold no particular interest in "true" reggae. This is a good place to begin, but also check out "Volume One".

- The Best of UB40- Enough Said.

UB40 is loved because of their ability to blend reggae music with mainstream appeal. This album is an excellent example of the range, depth and skill that these artists are capable of. The familiar hits like "Can't Help Falling In Love" are overshadowed by original tracks like "Bring Me Your Cup". An excellent CD for a sunny day, a rainy day, a busy day, a lazy day. UB40 nails it, and we get to enjoy it.

- Bathtime, Rex!

I love UB40 because they present so many listening options. When you actually want to listen to MUSIC, heaven forbid, you can play some of the early stuff - 'Signing Off' and 'Present Arms' being the albums to check out (they are poorly represented on Vol. 1 and not represented on Vol. 2). When you're washing the dishes or giving the dog a bath, then you can let the great bulk of UB40's recorded output wash gently over and around, but not of course, through, you. It's all very pleasant and the essential similarity of the polite, saccahrine-sweet covers they specialise in has a cumulative effect: you and Rex will both be gently bobbing your heads by the time you towel him off. Alarmingly, some worrying signs of Songwriting are beginning to creep back into UB40's muzak: particularly 'Higher Ground' from the Promises & Lies album, and 'Bring Me Your Cup', a song so downright sensuous that Rex is likely to do very strange things to your leg unless you're careful. Woof woof!
