Just had to respond after reading the poor review of this alblum. I have liked UB40 for years, but this record, featuring guest rappers from England, is different and very good. For those who like English reggae and UB40 before they became acceptable for your grandmother, this is a must. It's rough around the edges, but a great party alblum.
This release is an experience and is one of my favorites from UB40, even though the focus vocally is from talent outside their group - kind of like UB40 presents.
If you are new to toasting/ranking - give it a couple of listens (maybe a bit of meditation on the style) before passing judgement.
A fan of toasting/ranking? Listen and be immersed in stylized Toasts from highly talented British vocalists hand selected by UB40. All contributors offer up lyrics with electrifying cadence and tone. Also - Crank the Bass - This is a real winner in this category with Intense Drumming and Relentless Bass lines - in the ubiquitous UB40 style, of course.
Praise Jehovah and give thanks for His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ who's name literally means Jehovah is salvation, also meditate on what the Bible says about Jesus - "For [the death] that he died, he died with reference to sin once for all time".
I wanted a CD of Little Baggariddim and the person I ordered from sent me this. Well, at least I got some of the songs from LB. This is just ok - not bad, not good. If you want a CD of reggaelike grooves and rapping/toasting then this should work for ya. The best cuts are the ones from Little Baggariddim.
**Thank you so much for making this album UB-40**
I was not the biggest fan of UB-40 until I heard this album, back in college, but after the first listening, I was so blown away!!
This great music represents real reggae and its wonderful followers, way more powerful and meaningful than the commercial side to UB-40*. So spiritual and clever, is the track- "Buzz Feeling". the kind of music they should play on the radio, to open up peoples minds to reality!
All throughout the album generally brilliant lyrics with incredible reggae sound and masterful production by UB-40,
this is truely a collectors item! If you dont own or like this album, and are a reggae or UB-40 fan, then I am truely lost for words!! Praise JAH!!!!
In fact on an end note, after initially hearing this wonderful album, we must of played it over a million times and included it in virtually every session*** JAH RASTAFARI **
I think the only UB40 tracks on this album are, I got you babe,Don't break my heart,Hip hop lyrical robot and my fav Mi spliff.I don't know why but these songs were then released on the LP Little baggariddim. This is still a good album if you like the mix of the two sounds
