- Toots from the Roots

If you are a fan of roots reggae, you already know Toots and the Maytals. This release is another classic from one of Jamaica's best performers. The listener gets what one has come to expect from this master of Jamaican music. Although Toots has always played music which is unmistakenly West Indian, he has also never been afraid to incoporate other influences such as American soul, blues, and country. This album has a straight up blues rocker(Johnny Cool) and a duet with Bonnie Raitt(Premature) along with some great roots reggae and even some nyabinghi.

Throughout, Toots and his band really deliver the goods. No drum machines, no samples, no rap. This album could have been released in the 1970's, when roote reggae was at its peak. I think all those who appreciate classic roots regggae that has that rural west country, Jamaica feel will love this disk.

- Toots still has it. Good stuff.

Toots has not missed a lick over the year. Having Bonnie Raite sing on one of the songs is impressive.

- reggae got soul

I have listen this record driving in my car, i was with a girl and we loved this music... Not just reggae but a blend of soul music. Derek Trucks features the first song and added a southern touch to the sound. I love Toot's voice, so low down and black.

- Toots keeps them coming.

I have followed Toots Hibbits for a long time. His music is soulful, meaningful, and lively. A true leader in his Raggae Music. This is one of my favorites. If I am working on my boat, this is the album that is on.

- Toots!

Saw Toots in a privates acrostic performance at a Portland, Maine TV station and then on stage that night with his band. This is a soul reggae album with Toots at the top of his game.
