- Hot!

THALIA, Thalia's self-titled album is hot. A lot of people are complaining that this is too different for Thalia or whatever but I think this is her best yet. It's got a lot of well crafted pop songs on here. Up-beat gems like "tu y yo" and awesome ballads like "no me ensenaste" and "y seguir". Thalia sings with passion on each and every track. I really enjoyed this Cd fully. This is one of those albums that you can play from beginning to end, enjoying each track. Thalia also sings a few english tracks. "The Mexican 2002", "closer to you" and a remake of "you spin me 'round". "Closer to you" has a very nice melody but the lyrics are a joke. Still enjoyable though. THALIA is an excellent mix of pop/rock, dance, and latin sounds.

1. Tu Y Yo 5/5

- Her Best Album To Date!!!.....

Once again, mexican superstar Thalia comes "Arrasando" with a new album, new sound & new look. In my opinion i didn't think that this album would surpass her grammy-winning album 'Arrasando', but of course it did. On her self-titled album [Thalia], the singer shows her more mature and infectious voice. [Thalia] has a similarity to her first three albums but in a more better sound and vocals. Just by hearing these songs, you can right away notice the stronger vocals and great alternative tunes.

Leading the new set is the first single "Tu Y Yo", which also comes in a cumbia remix featuring A.B. Quintanilla and the Kumbia Kings, which should keep you dancing for a while. Other songs that will also have you dancing are, "En La Fiesta Mando Yo" (excellent song), "Vueltas En El Aire" (a good song with great vocals), "A Quien Le Importa?" (great song!!! really indentifies her), "The Mexican 2002" (w/Marc Anthony & also in an english version), and my favorite, "La Loca" ( a type of rap song). Thalia also included good (and way better) ballads like, "Asi Es El Destino", "No Me Ensenaste", and "Y Seguir". These songs are sure to become hits if they are released.

The album is definitely filled with many more surprises. And one of the surprises is three english songs including a cover of Dead Or Alive's, "You Spin Me 'Round (Like A Record)" and the tender ballad, "Closer To You". Even though we already got a preview of her english debut with "Its My Party" (Arrasando's english version), its still good te get some more. Overall this is Thalia's best album to date!!! I would recommend this to everyone, especially the fans. You will really enjoy it........

- A wonderfully Fun Album.

The Spanish language tracks are wonderfully fun, and light, and just make you wanna move. Thalia at her very best. The English language tracks fall just a shade shy of that mark, because she has not yet quite learned how to translate the delicious playful things she does with her voice in Spanish into English. When she does, Thalia will outshine all other cross over stars. Till then one can pray she continues to make such sparkling music.

5 stars for the spanish portion, 4 1/2 for the english.

- Excellent all round!

Despite the very unimaginative title, "Thalia" is Thalia's best album yet. Unlike the previous releases "Arrasando" and "Amor A La Méxicana", she hasn't crammed it full of boring ballads and tired sounding dance tracks, but has carefully recorded some of the best songs I've ever heard.

Before I mention the individual songs, it should be noted that the development of Thalia's vocals and the production of this album have improved greatly since the 2000 release, so this automatically enhances the album greatly.

TÚ Y YO, 5/10: Considering how good the rest of the songs are, it's such a shame "Tu y yo" was chosen as the first track. It's not awful but it lacks any real flavour or emotion.

ASÍ ES EL DESTINO, 9/10: A really catchy and memorable mid-tempo track.

EN LA FIESTA MANDO YO, 9/10: Very fast, almost crazy track which'll definitely make you want to dance!

NO ME ENSEÑASTE, 10/10: An incredible ballad which explodes at the end.

Y SEGUIR, 7/10: Not as good as the previous 3 but still entertaining. Again, a mid-tempo track with a catchy chorus.

¿A QUIÉN LE IMPORTA?, 9/10: A great dance track which would've got ten had it not been a cover!

VUELTAS EN EL AIRE, 8/10: An upbeat dance song with a great "Estefano" feel to it. Chorus is also very infectious.

HERIDAS EN EL ALMA, 8/10: A laid back beat with a haunting melody.

LA LOCA,6/10: A definite get on your feet and dance song but the vocals really annoy me in the chorus (and what's with the "Only your lips I want to kiss"??)

TÚ Y YO Remix, 8/10: A much needed remix which gives the song a bit more melody.

THE MEXICAN 2002, 9/10: Excellent track accompanied by a great guitar riff.

THE MEXICAN (English), 7/10: The same track as above, just in English.

CLOSER TO YOU, 8/10: Nice ballad in English.

YOU SPIN ME ROUND, 9/10: Despite sounding a bit like a chipmunk, this cover is a great end track that manages to transform the original into something much more fun.

So, I'd say "Thalia" is worth buying if you like Latin music or you like modern day divas. You may also like to try Thalia's new album (although it isn't nearly as good as this one!)
