- solid gold

Marc Bolan and the T.Rex were a major force in early British glam/powerpop music, along with the Sweet and Slade. This collection covers most of the radio hits from the short but very fertile career of T. Rex. And you know, it's the business.

- Glam rock at its finest!

Marc Bolan was a true innovator of the 'glam scene' of rock and roll. This compilation gives a great selection of the T. Rex catalogue. It rarely leaves my CD player.

- Great collection.............Almost all the hits!

I always thought that Marc Bolan & T Rex were the best of the Glam Rock era groups from the early 70's & this is certainly one of their best collections. Most of the Hits are on this 1st Volume. For the few that are missing (most notably 'Jeepster', 'Hot Love', 'Ride A White Swan', 'Jeepster' & 'Deborah') you could do worse than picking up the cheap 'Born to Boogie - The Collection' CD. Cheap in the U.K. anyway in order to complete all the main hits. Last month in the U.K. I picked up the 'Very best of T Rex vol. 2' with Vol 1 as a cheap box set (under 20.00 US$) & 9 $US for the Boogie Collection. Certainly a lot cheaper than the multi-disc box-set. As good as T-Rex & Marc Bolan were they could start to wear thin once you'd gotten past most of the hits. On the + side he had at least 20 great great songs & most of those are on this Vol . 1 Disc. My fave's 'Metal Guru', 'Solid Gold Easy Action', 'Telegram Sam', 'Born to Boogie' & the Advert friendly '20th Century Boy' are all Classics. His death was overshadowed in 77' by Elvis of course but he was very much the U.K.'s own homegrown Elvis. Totally unique with a voice & swagger to match his songs perfectly. Ultra Catchy bombastic Boogie/Rock songs with easy to remember chorus lines. I don't know how popular he was in the U.S. at the height of his powers but I suspect he was a missed gem. But for me as a kid growing up in London he was the bomb & for a few short years, along with 'Slade', 'Sweet', 'Wizard' & even 'Bowie' made Glam Rock a powerhouse for a good couple of years.

- Fantastic CD

This is one of my favorite compilation CDs from T-Rex. It offers a wide variety of their music and the songs go well together.
