Sequels to best-of collections tend to be a bit suspect, unless, of course, the band in question had an exceptionally long run that was prematurely anthologized midway through. In the case of this posthumous souvenir of the Smiths' four-year career, casual fans may be disappointed to find that you can't sulk to "Girlfriend in a Coma" (like most of their hits, it's on volume one) or even moo along to "Meat Is Murder" (saved for a projected volume three?). Then again, Morrissey and Johnny Marr were anything but one-hit wonders, and tracks such as "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" and "Bigmouth Strikes Again" make it clear the band could turn out high-quality, hummable odes to melancholia until the cows come home, which, by the time of this 1992 anthology, they already had. --Bill Forman

- I LOVE THE SMITHS!

I love this album and every other album by Morrissey and the Smiths. They are truly underrated by the public. The music is sensual, emotional, and thought provoking. Morrissey's voice is passionate and dramatic. The music stirs up emotions you didn't even know you possesed. Most underrated tracks on album are Oscillate Wildly and Girl Afraid.

- Awesome!!!

I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys listening to The Smiths. Even if you're not a hard-core fan, the songs on this CD will bring back some awesome memories of days gone by when 'must see TV' meant watching MTV's 120 minutes to see the videos that went along with these songs. You can't go wrong with this CD!!!!!!!

- The Best, Volume 2 doesn't disappoint.

I have owned this album for about five years and this is one that I can always return to and enjoy again and again. Their style is very unique to the time. Their guitar licks, that are reminiscent of the Stray Cats and Morrissey's unusual voice, make this the best album anyone can have in their collection. They were truly ahead of their time.

- Love The Smiths

This is a very hard to find CD and Amazon came through on this item for me. I owned this back in the nineties and it was abused. I tried to have it professionally resurfaced, but it did not come out that great. Some of the scratches where to deep.

Glad I was able to find this after all this time. It is the second of two CDs that are basically greatest hits, but I wanted them even though I have all of there stuff on CD or iTunes. It is always nice to have a back up of the soundtrack of your youth.

These two CDs are basically like "The Greatest Hits" collection of one of Manchester's greatest bands. I would agree with a lot of other reviewers about both of the CDs. They are really not the "best of " as far as the song collections, but if you are like me, you want every thing one of your favorite bands puts out. I have almost everything they ever released except for the complete collection. I think it is a little crazy for me to pay over $400.00 for something that I have most of the original releases of. It is a nice set, but I own just about every single and vinyl release that is offered in the set. I'm not talking about the newest set of albums, but he 1990 release which contained all of the singles (45rpm) and the albums. I have seen it listed for as much as $1500.00 on eBay.

I am considering buying the latest box set as the vinyl is 180 gram and there is a big difference in the sound quality of the thicker vinyl than that of the original releases, as long as they are remastered correctly.
