Ms. Morrison clears a high bar here. These 11 songs are at the same time familiar and fresh. The songs are alternatively a mixture of ballad, blues, and straight-ahead rock. The presentation here demonstrates that Ms. Morrison has a high opinion of her listeners- she is interested getting a song across, not just highlighting her (exceptional) voice. Her material, delivery and arrangements keep your attention, and invite repeated listening. Many of the lyrics are memorable and clever.

This album is already one of my personal favorites. As Ms. Morrison declares playfully in the tract Jupiter Jones. "I know what you want and I can do that for you". She certainly does know what we want- Vola.
