- Never Mind 'Never Mind' Here's KISS THIS!

The "Kiss This" 2-CD set, is, without a doubt, the best Sex Pistols product on the market. It's even a better purchase than "Never Mind the Bollocks..." How can that be? you ask.

The first CD is a nearly complete chronicle of everything the Pistols recorded. It has every track that is on "Bollocks," (same mix, same version, same everything. I mention that b/c it was a question I had before I bought it) as well as each of the four B-sides to their original singles. Those are:

1)I Wanna Be Me (B-side of "Anarchy") 2)"Did You No Wrong" (B-side of "God Save...") 3)"No Fun" (B-side of "Vacant"--awesome!!!) 4)"Satellite" (B-side of their last single, "Holidays...")

This last song deserves mention because it is, as author Jon Savage put it, "the great lost Sex Pistols recording." It's available on other bootlegs, but not this version. "Satellite" has some of the best Rotten lyrics, a fantastic Steve Jones riff, and wouldn't have sounded--well, I was going to say it wouldn't have sounded out of place on "Bollocks" but the truth is it would have; it's that good. Really. I mean it. If you're a Pistols' fan, you have to listen to this song.

"Kiss This" also contains several covers from their earliest days: "Don't Give Me No Lip, Child" and "Stepping Stone." "Did You No Wrong" was one of their first original tunes, and is here; it's a Mod-ish, tough little love song, the likes of which they'd never do again. Following these songs the rest of the "Bollocks" catalog. Always a pleasure to hear this stuff again (and again and again!)

The final two songs are a great bonus: Sid Vicious' version of "My Way," a brilliant/stupid, trashing/celebration of the Sinatra/Presley egotistical classic. Is this Sid's finest moment? It's a phenomenal piece of work, really. The last song is "Silly Thing," sung by Steve Jones after Rotten had left the band. There's a different version of this on the "Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle" soundtrack, but this one is good as well. Is it about Johnny Rotten?

This first CD has a great fold-out collage on one side of the insert, and a detailed commentary about each song by John Lydon, Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and Glen Matlock. An unexpected treat!

Disc 2 is "Live in Trondheim, 21 July 1977," a pretty good recording of a decent performance with Sid on bass. It only has 8 songs, but is a nice extra for the price.

As a long-time, die-hard Pistols fan, I was extrememly happy with this purchase. I was also happy to that it's not a bootleg; it's a fully authorized release from Virgin Records. The sound quality is excellent--maybe even better than the current CD of "Bollocks" from Warner Brothers.

"Kiss This" is an absolutely essential purchase for any fan of the Sex Pistols, well worth the $28. Buy it today, keep the Swindle alive!

- Forget "Never Mind The Bollocks"

This is a great collection, in fact although there are loads of collections of their work these are the ONLY songs you will ever need by the Sex Pistols, save for some live cuts. The olny reason not to get this would be iy you just want the prestige of having Never Mind The Bollocks because of its greatness, in which case theres convincing you but this ones got ALL of those songs plus the decent post-Rotten tracks and Sid's My Way which alone is worth the extra. Plus, I just wanted to say that I got mine in Australia with the bonus live disc (this one doesn't have it) and i gave the album 4 stars because I'd feel ripped off if i didn't (which you won't.)

I recently bought the 20 track version(accurately listed on Amazon) for a reasonable price, and I'm very happy with it. It contains all of Never Mind..., plus other great tracks. I had Never Mind... on vinyl, and this is the perfect, updated, replacement (or supplement - I'd never get rid of my vinyl albums). A great buy, and the only Sex Pistols CD I'll ever need.

- Pistols Rock

For some unknown reason this band produced some fantastic songs that stand the test of time.Problem is they were not around long enough, and not enough songs were made. Some will argue but to me the songs are inspirational, and can get you fired up.Now their songs do have emotion in them. Its like they realy meant what they said. The best song is Bodies.Yes i know it has not got the geatest lyrics, the subject is unusual to make a song about - abortion. But the way he sings that song, its just amazing and it realy gets to me,and when its finished you have to play it again. That song gets me going in the morning, when you just want to go back to bed.Holidays In The Sun is another great song, man that is a great song. The whole album of Bollocks was a sensation.Pretty Vacant was a hit from Bollocks and is another great song.A track that is missing from here is lonely Boy by Steve Jones. He did the bulk of guitars on Bollocks after Glen Matlock left.Sid did not play too well and hardly did anything on it.He has a tune here called My Way.Great song, hard to follow his accent without the lyrics. He did have another 2 songs not here on the Swindle which could have been put here -Something Else and Come On Everybody. But realy there is the best of them here. Its realy sad Sid died so young, but in reality he didnt contribute that much musicly to them.I have 2 concerts from their American tour in 1978.They were great shows, but you find that you end up milking the well for more Pistols tracks, there simply is not enough.Another favorite song of mine is New York,i love that tune just brilliant. No Feelings and Liar are also great tracks. There is not one bad song here.

- Sex Pistols - 'Kiss This:The Best Of The.....' (EMI)

Not only do you get every track here from the notorious clods of British punk's 1977's sole 'proper' record 'Never Mind The Bollocks', but this CD reissue has extra cuts that may not appeal to most anyone but possibly the completists. As always, it's a total scream listening to "Pretty Vacant", "Holidays In The Sun", "Bodies" and "Liar". Twenty songs total, decent compilation.
