For the first time in over a decade, this album is available on CD. This was Selena's first major album with a major label, and you can start seeing where this girl was heading. While this album is more traditional Tejano, you can catch the beginnings of when Pop began to infuse it's self into Selena's music.
Best songs on this CD are definatley: Tu Eres, Besitos, My Love, and No Te Vayas. All of these are classic examples of Selena's early days with EMI. Also, the original studio version of Amame Quiereme (which debuted on this CD) is terrific.
In addition, this Special Limited Edition re-issue includes: introduction text not found in the original version, lots of pictures from Selena's early days, La Bamba as a Bonus Track, and Spoken Liner Notes by her family and band! It is great to hear straight from her brother's and sister's mouths what it was like for them as a family to embark on this new chapter of Selena's professional career.
This is not just a fast, and cheap repackaging. It is definatley worth the re-purchase if you have the original on Tape or CD; or to purchase for the first time to discover Selena's versatile talent in her early years.
This album has a very pretty cover photo! Just so you know. I love this album as every song is amongst my favourite of Selena.
Tú Eres, Sukiyaki and Contigo Quiero Estar are very sweet Selena songs that very fond of. Besitos and Mentiras are catchy tejeno hits. No te vayas and La Bamba (bonus) are classic latin songs with Selenas special talent and my favourite English Selena song! - My love. This album has everything.
Oh, what a fine entry into my Selena collection. The English tracks sound more like Latin/Freestyle than Tejano on this one, and all the others I simply love.
Reason: Freestyle was my first foray into Latin music, back in the 80's, which is where this music came from. Anyone ever heard "Enamorada de Ti" from "
"? It sounds, again, like Freestyle with Spanish lyrics. And at that time I was into metal almost exclusively, but Latin music was creeping in there against my will, it was like Ebola, very, very infectious, but without the 95% mortality rate.
Well, Selena rocks, once again. Blessed Be Selena, for all time. We, your fans, treasure your memory. Your music reminds us of what we lost, but it also still brings us joy, which is what you intended all along...your eternal gift to us. And we all love you for it. Thank you, chickie.
