This is a good single by the Rolling Stones, but I'm telling you not to buy it. Unless you specifically want the radio friendly version of "Sparks Will Fly" (and why would you), DO NOT BUY THIS.
If I were you, I would seek out the US maxi single version, catalogue number V25H-38459.
The US version omits the radio verison of "Sparks Will Fly" and instead has another completely new non-album track instead: "So Young". You won't be disappointed.
Now as for the songs themselves on this version, "Out of Tears" is a slow, quiet ballad. It is plodding at times and it's odd that the band featured it so prominantly as a single. At first I didn't like it, but after 15 years, it is slowly starting to grown on me. The edit is simply that and is of no consequence. The remix edit is a little bit more echoey sounding a doesn't really add anything to the simple emotional nature of the song.
So aside from the aforementioned radio-friendly edit of "Sparks Will Fly", that leaves "I'm Gonna Drive". This song is a non-album track and is a fairly unenergetic road song that does feature some interesting slide work from Ronnie. It is pleasent, however, and does have some repeat listenability and charm to it. Honestly, it is the only redeeming point to this particular release. Personally I am not one to go gaga over remixes and edits of existing songs.
Unfortunately at the time of writing this review, I didn't see a US version of the single for sale on Amazon. Otherwise I would have linked it here. Happy shopping and keep your eyes open.
