There are few remakes that outdo the original. Geri Halliwell's cover of "It's Raining Men" was an example. Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman's remake of the classic Sinatra song, "Something Stupid", is absolutely astonishing. Made to have a more modern sound, but still containing the quality of the original, the song is a beautiful and romantic love song that I can't get enough of. Williams shines as usual, and Kidman (who proved she could sing in 2001's "Moulin Rouge") blows me away every time I hear it. "Something Stupid" is a terrific song!
I am so happy with this CD, not only is this a great and catchy version of a classic hit done by great vocals (Nicole Kidman has a singing career is she wants it, that is the most amazing thing about it.) but it also has a video which as far as I know can only be played on a computer.
If you loved Moulin Rouge, it is imperative that you get this too -- even if you didn't like Moulin -- this is a must have item.
It's a wildly romantic song, less than 3 minutes, with a catchy beat. This song also went to number 1 in the UK.
You won't be disappointed.
This is a fantastic single! The song has a nice, airy swing sound, at once being romantic and a bit silly at the same time. I'm a big Robbie Williams fan, and Nicole Kidman is a great foil to him.
While the other songs, particularly Eternity, are fantastic as well, I would highly recommend buying the CD "Swing When You are Winning" instead of this single. It contains the marquee song as well as many other great Rat Pack covers by Robbie Williams, such as Mack the Knife.
I've always liked "Something Stupid", but there was always that sort of creepy dynamic to it with the Sinatra's version. I mean, here was this father/daughter duo singing a song about a charmingly disfunctional romantic relationship.
This version is as musically pleasing as the original, with the bonus of the video which is pure fun: 60's high fashion collides with 90's sexual mores. I saw this is a bar and had to run out and buy the import - it was well worth it.
I didn't even know who Robbie Williams was before this. And I don't know him very well now. But I do know that Nicole Kidman is the BEST SINGER EVER!!!! I first heard her in Moulin Rouge and since then I've been hooked. I was looking up her an KaZaA and I found this song. It is soooo good they sound good together. They should make another.
