- Perry's 1959 Recordings of "Ave Maria" and "(The) Lord's Prayer" in REAL STEREO!

This Review is relevant to both the 1 CD - 17 Track Retail Version and the 2 CD - 36 Track Special Release.

The 2 CD set includes the vast majority of Perry Como's Faith & Inspirational Recordings. Perry's 2 Jewish Recordings - "Eli, Eli" and "Kol Nidrei" are missing from this release. Both recordings have yet to appear on a recommendable Digital Release, but appear to be available within Public Domain compilations now; sourced simply from records.

All songs on this release are re-mastered to a very good standard from Original Release Masters, with the exception of Perry's 1959 recordings of "Ave Maria" and "(The) Lord's Prayer" which have been re-mixed and re-mastered from the 1st Generation 3-Track Master Tapes, for the very first time. These 2 recordings had been considered lost for over 40 years. They were rediscovered when it was found that they were filed under "Robert Shaw" for the Robert Shaw Chorale; who accompanied Perry on both recordings. The original single was commercially released in MONO, but available on a very limited distribution single in STEREO.

The 2 CD Version also includes the complete contents of Perry's RCA Victor Album "I Believe" with the exception of Perry's first RCA Victor recordings of "Ave Maria" and "(The) Lord's Prayer" - as well as the 2 Jewish recordings. Perry's 1958 RCA Victor Album "When You Come To The End Of The Day" is included in it's entirity along with related singles of Faith & Inspiration. All recordings within this compilation are released as they should be, in PURE MONO and REAL STEREO as applicable.

The 1 CD version includes the whole of Perry's 1958 RCA Victor Album "When You Come To The End Of The Day", plus related songs of Faith and Inspiration from the late 1950's. All selections are in REAL STEREO.

All compiling, sequencing, mixing and mastering has been done to a very good standard.

- A true gem!

In greece, we call such records "Malakies" which means "Delightful". Don't waste another minute and go get this CD! It brings me back memories from my childhood.

- Excellent recording

The only thing is, it mixes "Protestant" and "Catholic" hymns, so, if you are a purist, you may want to make a copy that has just "your" hymns on it---not that hard to do. Como was a fine singer---much underrated, because he made it seem so effortless!
