I credit Thes One and Double K with being the reason I love hip hop so damn much.
People Under The Stairs are a wonderful combo of mcs who represent hiphop in it's purest form, dope rhymes, dope beats, and a hell of a lot of grooviness. Literally every song they've ever put out is dope, and that's saying a lot after 6 studio albums, an incredibly rare tour album, and a whole lot of b-sides. Thes One is hands down my favorite producer I've ever heard, scouring the lands for dope, buried samples and then constructing them into wonderful, hazy jams that really make you feel like you're listening to lost music from some distant place. Double K is also an amazingly skilled DJ, doing most (if not all) of the cuts on every album, he really makes your head bounce around with his precise scratches and wonderful sample cuts. I've heard many say PUTS is lacking in the rhyme department, which is only really arguable in the sense that these two are aren't New York hardened battle rappers, but party rockers and barbecue groovers.
For P fans who already own all the albums with the tracks from disc 1, I would definitely recommend picking this up anyways. The second disc does feel a bit short clocking in at about 45 minutes, but all the tracks are dope, sounding like they range from Next Step era work all the way up to Or Stay Tuned.
I'm biased, I regard People Under The Stairs as the greatest hiphop act to ever grace the acetate. But I hold that opinion for very good reasons, and if you skip this purchase you will truly be missing out.
I picked up one track as a Amazon freebie, but it disappeared from my collection. So I ended up buying the whole album. Many great songs, it's been a treat to listen to on the way to work.
^ thats the first thing I said when I opened this GEM, P.U.T.S never fails to impress me with they're cool rhymes and beats. A great duo in the genre of Hip-Hop and real music nothing compared to the garbage on radios these days. This cd will surely have you wanting more and is guaranteed to make you bob your head stomp your foot and snap your fingers all hip hop enthusiast's should have this in their collection!
