- Super Hits misses the mark.

When a band with a 40+ year history gets a skimpy ten track Greatest Hits, you'll want to know where the included tracks fit into the band's history. The Dirt Band (Nitty Gritty, or sometimes not) enjoyed two periods in the spotlight: First on the pop charts with their Top Ten version of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles" in 1970 and the Top Forty singles "An American Dream" and "Make a Little Magic" in 1979 and 1980. Then came a string of sixteen country music Top Ten singles from 1983-1989. Seven of ten tracks on "Super Hits" are among those sixteen country singles. The other three tracks here (Face on the Cutting Room Floor; Telluride; Keepin' That Road Hot) are album tracks from that same latter period. So not only does this collection neglect the band's biggest pop hits, but it has less than half of the country hits, omitting all three of their country #1 hits (Long Hard Road; Modern Day Romance; Fishin' In the Dark). As such, Super Hits is not worth it unless you can get it super cheap. Unfortunately, no comprehensive collection of either their sixteen country hits or the whole shebang (those sixteen plus the three pop hits) is available as of mid-2011.

- Super Hits

This is one of those albums that I find myself going back to and back again.

It's dirt band music in it's stride!

Not a dull moment to be found here.

Come home Friday afternoon shower, favourite cocktail,

reach for the big nob on the amp and crank it up some, this is where super hits comes to life.

OH WHAT A LOVE with it metered rhythm.

FACE ON THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR

KEEPING THE ROAD HOT, all bound to have you stomping your foot.

Great Album worthy to be in any collection.
