Recorded proof that the current "Two York Dolls" version of the New York Dolls is still an amazing live act. Musically, they're tighter than the original band ever was. While some of the original magic has faded, this version of the Dolls still ROCKS!
All songs on this cd are much better than the first reunion live cd and all the old live recordings. My major complaint is the length of the cd and the fact that there only 2 songs from their fantastic studio reunion cd. The dolls have never sounded better.
What a great sound this band has, The original dolls made it and the current dolls tightened it.
Wow, David Johansen has proven he can sing just about any genre of music and sing it beautifully. Sylvain Sylvain is playing better than ever, and the new Dolls are keeping it altogether and alive. Steve Conte has put a fresh coat on the old songs while keeping the new in the Dolls veins. If you don't own a live Dolls cd then this is the one for you. If this is the first Dolls cd you own or are thinking or owning grab the whole catalog and see what else your missing.
Recorded live at two gigs at the famed Fillmore East - December 28-29, 2007. As huge of a live album fan that I am - this is a true gem. Fully appreciated the two songs they played off their 'One Day It Will Please' reunion CD - "Rainbow Store" and the *ss-kicking "Dance Like A Monkey". As always, it's also great to hear the classics they had time to play like "Trash", "Jet Boy" "Pills" and "Lonely Planet Boy". Never really gets old, does it? Highly recommended.
The reunited Dolls were great out of the box but they are really hitting hard now. This CD opens with a killer version of Babylon, the best Babylon I have ever heard.
I notice that the limited pressing sold out quick but the used items are available very cheap. Get it while you still can. This one just roars.
Did I mention that Babylon rocks really, really, extra-especially hard?
