Análisis - Amazon.com
Sarah Cahill is a West Coast broadcaster, journalist, and powerhouse new-music pianist who eats notes for breakfast. The Ravel selections on her solo debut disc, however, reveal the pianist's gentler side. She imbues the picturesque Miroirs with languid, lapidarian refinement and subtly graded dynamics. The dark underside of Gaspard de la Nuit's outer movements are charted by way of unusual voice leadings, illuminating accents, and unconventional yet convincing rubatos. More diabolical Gaspards from Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and Ivo Pogorelich exist, yet Cahill's self-effacing conceptions ring fresh and true with each new listen. --Jed Distler

- Wonderous tonal performance.

Kudos to New Albion for issuing this great disc. Sarah Cahill is best known for her "new music" performances, but she clearly traces the roots of that music to its source with her recroding of Ravel. A great album worth repeat listenings.

- meditation and athleticism

This is an astonishing performance of one of the most difficult pieces in the repertoire. Cahill manages to make the virtuosic sound meditative, which is what pianism at its highest can attain, when the body, able to surmount the difficulties of performance, takes its direction fully from the mind.

- outstanding performance of this classic.

I love the way Cahill moves through the liquid auality of Ravel's music. She clearly has a great sense of the composer's intent. I listen to this CD often to relax and put the rest of the world in focus.
