- the ultimate anthology to have

Even though i had marvin gaye's 1995 anthology set i was so glad that i came here and found the 1986 anthology. this anthology in my opinon is better because it has more of his 60's songs. don't get me wrong, either anthology is excellent and you can't go wrong with either one you choose to get but for me this one is the best to have. i'm so glad to have this in my collection!

- Marvin Gaye complete

There are none missing in the anthology of Marvin Gaye. All of his hits and some obscure tunes such as "You" and "Pretty Little Baby".

- Anthology is a treasure chest of Marvin Gaye music gems

The complete works of the essential Marvin Gaye recordings are here in this anthology. Beginning with "Stubborn Kind of Fellow", the collection parallels Marvin's gradual climb up the Motown ladder from secondary performer to R&B icon status, especially with the release of his album, "What's Going On". Gaye had several hits in the '60s but also had success with duets, partnering with such singers as Mary Wells and Kim Weston before hitting it big with the late Tammi Terrell. After Tammi's death, Marvin took off with "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and never looked back. Gaye's protest songs also caught on with the public and his anti-war message added to his crossover appeal. This 2CD set is a fine tribute to one of R&B's all-time best artists.

- a must have 2cd for music lovers

this has it all all.marvin gaye's box sets and greatest hit cd's don't have what this anthology has.this cd if you were lucky enough to get it back in the early 90's when it was released for a short time has 1 bonus song that the record set didn't have from back in the 70's as you know lets get it on wasn't on the record anthology release.this cd anthology has lets get it on and every song from the 73 release.i like many other people who bought the box set that was released a short time ago was very disapointed that it was missing some of his best songs on it.im glad i have this anthology buying the boxset only made me realise i didn't need the box set.i don't know why motown doesn't release this cd set again.it's been out of release now for over a decade.i have to thank my dad for introducing me to marvin he had this anthology record set and he would play it and i would hear it and i thought it was just so great.this anthology shows marvin gaye's true genius songs like whats going on and the ecology song prove that.if you are lucky enough to find this on cd get it.it is essential for any music lover and i'm not even a motown fan apart from marvin gaye.

- Only if you love Everything Marvin Gaye ever did

This Anthology is an excellent collection of all of Marvin Gaye's music and shows his wide range. However, I had never even heard many of the songs on it. If you're looking for his top hits, you're better off with one of the other collections.
