As i've said in previous Lit cd reviews, "Lit is awesome!". They have continued to release high-quality, original music that is a joy to listen to from beginning to end. Each song has a unique quality and feel to it, and contains catchy guitar riffs, memorable vocals, and awesome guitar solos, which are short but VERY sweet. Lit doesn't mess around with unnecessary bells and whistles. They cut straight to the point, and get the job done in the most effective way. This cd is in league with their last two albums "A place in the sun", and "Atomic", both of which are unbelievably good (buy them now!). Lit is definitely one of the most under-rated bands of recent times, and deserve more credit and support than they get. If you already like Lit, you'll love this album, and if you haven't heard them before, you're still sure to enjoy it. People who are yet to experience the goodness of Lit, may want to start off with "A place in the sun" or "atomic", but any cd will show you what Lit has to offer. Buy it now!
Lit once again lights it up with another rollicking power pop success. This band just keeps delivering hook after hook saturated with guitar crunch and snarling vocals. This CD rocks hard and is their most consistently exciting release to date. This one is entirely self-produced and the mix is music to our ears. Hats off to the Popoffs!
This album by LIT is far from awesome. I find myself bored by about the fifth song. I however wouldn't discourage buying the album. It really depends on your taste in music. I love rock, but this one failed to hit me.
For a band who once proclaimed to be their own worst enemy, Lit has certainly managed to make the most of their shortcomings. While not as original as their earlier efforts, this California based foursome have managed to add to the wealth of Pop-Punk material coming out of the left coast, and this effort should keep these guys around for a little bit longer. As with the band's previous material, most of the songs are three-and-a-half minute long laments about how screwed-up the band's members are, as the first single, "Looks Like They Were Right" offers up the lyric, "Turns out, I'm exactly how your friends thought I would turn out. Just another burnout". But while the lyrics tend to be on the self-depreciation side, the riffs that are put forth in the majority of the songs are downright awesome. Combining the attitude of punk with the aggressiveness of metal, most of the melodies are fraught with a powerful combination of guitar, bass, and drums. If there is one drawback to the album, it's a song like "Times Like This", which is straight out of the Nickelback/Creed/Default catalog of crappy songwriting. It's for this reason that the album isn't as good as it could be. The last thing the music industry needs is another sound-alike band. And a cover of the Cure's "Pictures Of You" is an unnecessary addition to the disc. When the band concentrates on the formula that provides their best tunes, such as the awesome "Forever Begins Right Now", which incorporates a '60's type of drum beat to it, the band is full of potential and fun. Other songs that work well are, "Moonshine", "Alright", and "All Or Nothing". But others, such as "Hard To Find", are full of vomit-inducing sappiness. Guys, stick to what it is you do best; crunching music and loser lyrics. Leave the commercialism to other bands, or you'll find yourself being left behind by the music buying public. And when you do what you do best, the music world is a better place.
This album is great. Very Lit like and every song is extremely well written and performed. The whole album has a very personal feel to it because the lyrics are obviously about life. In my very biased opinion (I am a huge Lit fan and will always love them) everyone should get this album because it is wonderful and showcases the incredible talent these 4 guys have. It is an awesome return for Lit after a few years off and the whole thing just rocks. Get LIT, you will not be disappointed.
