- Old, New, Borrowed, Not Blue...

Old, new, borrowed, not blue. The best way to describe this album. The band borrowed from old three cord rock and gives it a new sound. They are loud and bodacious. But they have the right rythem and beat. On many songs they bring back flashes of Seventies and Eighties bands, like The Producers or Elvis Costello. Their music drives with an energy that sends your mind reeling. Even on a slow song like Happy in the Meantime, there is an energy that radiates like an atomic bomb. On tunes like Sunny Weather, you will hear a sound like the Beach Boys on Steroids. Slip, into a sweet and tender ballad and be carried on a tidal wave of desire to hear more from Lit. Over My Head is from the Titan AE soundtrack and show us what most people at the Grammys have forgotten. This is what music is all about. Atomic, aptly named. Get in into your ears and crank it up.

- The Best Lit Cd

I know a lot of people would disagree with me on this one, but I feel that Atomic is the best Lit album to date, better than Tripping the Light Fantastic and better than A Place in the Sun. The songs on this album are exactly what you would expect from Lit, it is heavy yet poppy, with great guitar, great vocals, and a solid rhythm section. Some of the best moments on the album are the more rockin songs like Something to Someone, The Last Time Again, Next Time Around, and She Comes. These songs are exactly what you would expect from Lit. There is also the excellent acoustic ballad Happy in the Meantime which is a great change of pace. There are also songs that lead to the heavier side of their sound such as Drop D and the first single Lipstick and Bruises, and theres actually one straightforward pop song, Sunny Weather, it is one of the strong points of the album. Last but not least there's my personal favorite song on the album Everything's Cool. This song is supposed to be My Own Worst Enemy pt.2, the lyrics supposedly tell about the morning after, everything about this song is great, the lyrics, the music, the vocals, hands down the best Lit song ever. This is definately a strong release from one of the most talented new bands out there, this is a "real" rock album that everyone should own

- A Place in the Sun Part II

I was not quick to buy "A Place in the Sun" when it was released in 1999, but instead waited to jump on the bandwagon after "Zip-Lock" was released. Once I gave the whole CD a spin or 2 I have to say it was one of the best pop/punk/rock albums released in 1999.

Obviously my expectations were high for "Atomic." Basically not a whole lot has changed. I like all the songs off "Atomic" with highlights being "Something to Someone", "Addicted" and "Everythings Cool."

Bottom line: if you liked "A Place in the Sun", you'll like "Atomic." If you haven't heard Lit before but you like other bands like Eve 6, Fuel, 3 Doors Down, Green Day, Blink 182 or The Refreshments (circa 1996), you'll probably like this!

Peace. Enjoy.
