- People Hold On......... TO EACH OTHER

There may not be 20 CD's in my entire collection (there are over 300 CD's in it) that I have been more thrilled listening to, and buying than this. This has everything. Great DJ's mixing, (Hani, Hex Hector, and Junior) multiple versions of GREAT dance tunes which sound different, long mixes (a few that clock in easily at eight or nine minutes), and a great price. One of the slower songs on her self-titled CD I'm Leavin just happens to be the best mix on this. A ten minute plus version with Hex Hector that just may have you shaking your head off in the middle of it. The only thing missing is Barry White lending guest vocals on Never Never Gonna Give You Up.

- This is the real thing.....

This EP, consisting of remixes from her sorely underappreciated self-titled album, is proof that she needs to seriously consider making more dance-oriented music. Her self-titled opus was the 3rd album ever to have 4 consecutive #1 Billboard Dance/Club Play singles, which were People Hold On, Never Never Gonna Give You Up, Never Gonna Fall, and I'm Leavin'. The whole thing is great, but my personal favorites are Junior Vasquez's remix of Never Gonna Fall, Hex Hector's remix of I'm Leavin', The DRS remix of People Hold On, and K-Klass' remix of The Real Thing. The original versions of these songs are fabulous, but the remixes bring another dimension to them, turning these songs into bonafide shakedown anthems which show off her amazing versatility. Let's hope that with her next album, she gives us more floor-shaking dance singles like these, which prove that she is a dance diva to contend with.

- a tragic flaw removes two stars from this disc...

most people probably don't know this, but all of the remixes on this disc are EDITS of the full length club mixes. Every one of these songs was released as a promo 12" single to DJs--and compiling them on here, they've cut up to 2 minutes off some of the songs!!! Did we really need an radio mix of I'm Real when we have the long version? By the way--I'm Real is the only version that is the full length 12" mix--but it's not the BETTER mix that was on the 12". The other side of the 12" had Hex Hector's NYC Rough mix, which was a more aggressive house mix comparable to the junior and calderone mixes on here. If you have a turntable, try to seek out these 12" singles of these great mixes that are deserving of their full length versions...

- Non Stop Diva

Where oh where to begin. I love Lisa Stansfield. She is a versatile performer. She can be sexy and sultry in one song, then total dance the next. The #1 remixes are great. I especially love the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels mix of "People Hold On." This was a great track to begin with, but the intro to this mix forces you to turn the volume to the max and listen until your ears bleed!! Tracks 8 and 9 (The Real Thing and The Line) are also pretty kick a*s! Track 8, The Real Thing, showcases Lisa's higher ocataves. I love this girl's range. Track 9, The Line is a bit Jazzy and is great for a warm summer night of cruising This is a great album from one of my Favorite Divas, My excitement for having bought this album grows each time I pop it in the player. Lisa, keep 'em coming. We love ya!
