Review - Amazon.com
After a hiatus of several years, Lisa Stansfield released her self-titled CD, a collection of soulful musings and R&B rumblings. Heralded by many as the white queen of soul, Stansfield rises to the occasion with songs like "Never Gonna Fall," "The Real Thing," and "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up." Her smooth voice effortlessly coaxes every drop of emotion out of each song with an admirable and classy restraint. Nowhere is this more evident than in the neo-torch numbers, "I'm Leavin'" and "I Cried My Last Tear, Last Night." The album ends with the bootleg mix of her earlier hit, "People Hold On." A juggernaut of a bass line rumbles underneath, also approximated in Tori Amos's dance mix of "Professional Widow." Stansfield's voice glides over the infectious house groove, making the cut a dance floor staple. --Steve Gdula

- Lisa is amazing an a force to be reckoned with !!!!!!!!!!!11

When I first heard Lisa Stansfield, I was in the U.S. Army, stationed in Nuernberg, Germany. I was at a German club, and the song "Around The World" came on. I became a true fan of Lisa Stansfield. She is so amazing and truly a DIVA. Commenting on another review, she requires no gimmicks. When you are true to your profession, and believe deeply in your heart, all good things will come. GOD knows Lisa heart, and she will definitely gain the recognition she deserves. All three albums are fabulous. Even though the first album will always be my favorite, the third album displays her versatility, and diversity and definitely all the soul she possesses. No one can touch Lisa because she is real with hers. She does not need hip hop stars, or rap artists to get her music out. When your music begins straying from your original platform, and does not possess your feel, but you are trying to sell records, you are a sell out. Lisa Stansfield is beautiful and a talented artist. Her voice is mesmerizing, and so sultry. I recommend all three of her albums. Her first will get the the party started, the second will assist in you realizing you are ALL WOMAN, and the third will make your man or any man want you even more. Remember..............Somewhere In Time!!!!!!!

- Music for the 2000's

I really wish Lisa had come out onto the music scene nowadays. Back when she did come out, her style of music was not really in the American mainstream, but now, woohoo. I know that if "All Around the World" was released as a single now it would hit the top of the charts and that all of her cds to follow would hit the number one spots on all the charts. I think that listeners as a whole are tired of singers and bands that sound all the same and are lookin for a breath of fresh air. Lisa Stansfield is exactly that. This cd showcases her singing abilities perfectly. From the powerful ballads to the blood pumping numbers, this cd is what america needs now. All of her cds are in their own way different, but Lisa remains the same on all of em. Why not give her a try and see if I am wrong america, what have you got to lose?

- Stansfield Remains Spot On

Lisa Stansfield's third domestic release(and fourth overall) finds the soul-pop diva offering the most consistent balance between slow and uptempo material since her debut. After the nearly all-ballads approach on her previous set SO NATURAL, it's a nice change of pace to be reminded that Stansfield is equal parts soul balladeer and dance queen, handling both roles with ease. Highlights of the set include 'The Real Thing', 'I'm Leavin', 'People Hold On', and two first-rate covers--one of Barry White's 'Never Never Gonna Give You Up' and the other a sterling reading of Phyllis Hyman's 'You Know How To Love Me'. Though it didn't win back much of her early nineties audience, it remains her best album to date.

- IN A ... MOOD...YOU GIVE ME LOVE YOU GIVE ME LIFE

Lisa Stansfield self title album is a pure example of sensual tracks mix up in slow and uptempo beats. The voice of miss Stansfield has always distinguised for being soulful and misty. Her fourth release showcases a well produced album that hit stand without any expection, and that's what made it great, because it packed one of the most soulful loving records ever. The Highlights of this albums are: "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again", "The Real Thing", "Never Gonna Give You Up", "I'm Leavin'", "You Know How To Love Me", and "The Line". The Real Thing the first single release overseas is a nice example on how some british music is always ahead of time. Great album to have to those chill out nights, and ... dates.

- Gorgeous. Lush. Delicious. And So Very, Very Smooth.

Wow! What an album! Lisa'a lush vocals caress every note of this well-crafted, beautifully-executed CD. There's no filler here, every song could stand on its own ... and there's 16 gems (including a fantastic remix of The Real Thing). Her sound (up-to-date 70s skool R&B) is truly unique, somehow nostalgic and yet so very fresh and alluring. I'm hooked ...
