Análisis - Product Description
45:33 was originally recorded by James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) as a continuous album-length disco symphony. Commissioned by Nike for their Original Run series, it was the second in the series and proved a massive success, both critically and commercially. It is the result of Murphy's desire to create a piece of music outside the typical commercial constraints. 45:33 is a refreshing audio creation, complete and fulfilling, moving through a dynamic range of tempos and rhythms, all the while maintaining the essence of an LCD Soundsystem recording.

Nearly six months since the iTunes exclusive ended, 45:33 is now available for the first time on CD and double vinyl. The CD, which also includes three bonus tracks previously available in the UK only, remains intact as a singular piece of music that is spliced six times for easy navigation.

No longer just for runners, 45:33 will prove to be a must-have release for athletes, DJs, and music fans alike.

Initially created as part of a marketing campaign with Nike and iTunes, 45:33 was supposedly designed to be the ideal jogging soundtrack. If you’re familiar with the sardonic antics of James Murphy (a.k.a. LCD Soundsystem) you hear that background and wait for the punchline. Turns out there isn’t one, which--of course--might be the joke. Recreated here as a series of continuous tracks, the composition has the arc of good workout music: It starts slow, works up a lather, then gradually winds down. 45:33 is mostly played straight, a big, bright rave-up peppered with hypnotic melodies and tongue-in-cheek samples. After the opening disco-fied, downtempo piano motif, the beats soon drop, packing in a focused momentum and deep, insistent thumps. It ends with a sparse, ambient hum that, while done perfectly well here, has been done elsewhere before, and better. Overall, listening to the ultra-cool Murphy drop the pretense and cut a rug is too fun to complain about. Three other tracks are included here: a version of the single "North American Scum" and two b-sides ("Hippie Priest Burn-Out," "Freak Out/Starry Eyes"). In combination, the entire package feels a little thrown together but should satisfy those iPod-deprived souls who missed it the first time around. –Matthew Cooke

- LCD Soundsystem 45:33

Sounds warm and analogue, not stuffy and not serious. I'm listening to it now on Rhapsody. It is [updated] disco. But it seems affectionate, even fun, like playing with your fuzzy, clever robot kitty. I can see how it would be nice for running [or certain household or creative tasks] as it does engage that certain part of the brain so that the rest of you can focus. Thematically there's a fair amount going on. That said, it won't quite reward active listening. I'm at 14 minutes and so far I'm good; not bored. At 17 minutes it turns funky, at 19 it turns psy. Dag, I'm liking this. It has definitely suspended my disbelief. This definitely has a lot of personality and is cheeky sort of like Basement Jaxx, The Orb, or Yello [at 29 min it reminds me a little of Yello, in a good way]. Mmmm. Chunky. Okay I'll stop now. I know this review was trippy but hopefully it does sort of give you an idea of what to expect until a good reviewer comes along. Bye.

- Good for a 45 minute drive accross town...

This album really feels like a musical journey across a variety of styles and instrumentation. I can't say that I know the story behind the album or what influenced it, but I can tell you I like it.

I kind of just bought it on a whim and a good hunch. the only 2 tracks that i knew before buying this (along with Sound of Silver and their Self titled) were "Losing my edge" and "Yeah (pretentious mix)". With the exception of "hippie priest Bum out" this is one 45+ minute track that blends together 5 to 7 songs you would find on any other average cd. While there are alot of bright spots to be found on this one huge track, I really think they kick it up a notch around minute 17 and from there seamlessly span across different styles of dance music. Some of it very Herbie Hancock influenced, spacey techno, disco heavy Fat bass and then some. the last 10 minutes are like a subtle come down, but not much going on but a transcending synth pad.

so really, you're getting a good solid 35 minute musical journey that is upbeat, fun, and down right enjoyable. if you like LCD Soundsystem, Electronica, or dance pop with a nostalgic feel and modern approach, buy this album.

- Cool

this is a sweet album. I don't know much about LCD Soundsystem, I've only listened to that silver album before (it's really good too) but then I read some reviews and I bought this mostly because it was super cheap and people seemed to like it. Turns out it's super rad, 45:33 is a great song even though it's a little long (over 8 minutes!) and then Freak Out is hilarious and really good too even though it's also pretty long (also over 8 minutes!). Anyway this album is pretty good value and honestly how many good songs do you know that are over 45 minutes and 33 seconds? not many I bet. I rest my case.

- Sweet Jamz

I don't know why this has a crazy title in the listing. It's 45:33, and it's awesome. Funky as heck. I've been a fan of LCD for a while, but for some reason (probably because of the Nike association) I put off getting this. That was dumb, it's a sweet record.
