This is by far one of my favorite albums of all time, so I decided to order a vinyl version to add to my collection.
The things I did not like about this copy, was the difficulty of shoving 2 LP's in a single LP cover, and that the inner paper label on the actual vinyl is slightly bubbled up. But regardless, this is a must need record for any electronic lover's vinyl collection, and at a reasonable price.
I just received my new copy of L&M in the mail. The vinyl version consists of 2 LP records, with 4 tracks on each side. The LPs come in a regular LP sleeve, the inner sleeves are plain generic rounded white, and the records are a bit heavy and thick. So I suspect these may be the 180 gram vinyls but cannot confirm as there are no labels indicating so. The sound is nice and clean, no surface noise detected and the quality of the mastering is very good.. The inner tracks don't sound "overcompresed" that is, when the inner grooves are squeezed so that the output sound resembles a broken kazoo. What I did not like though, was the complete absence of any artwork, and no credits anywhere in the rear of the sleeve. So the impression you get when you open the plastic wrapping is that you are opening a rather cheap LP package like a K-tel record set, though the music and the actual make up for much of it, though not all. So if you are looking as a novelty, to buy this album on vinyl, for about twice the price of a used CD (fourteen dollars, plus shipping), it's a pretty good buy and it won't bust your wallet. Last year I paid over twenty bucks for a vinyl copy of The Smiths The Queen Is Dead but returned it as the inner grooves sounded compressed and the record was a bit warped (not so the case here).
