- Buy this set if you value music in any form whatsoever

Coming out of nowhere, kyuss were a band that would change the history of rock music forever. As one of the few bands to produce anything trully original in the last 10 years it is fitting that their three finest albums should live on in this form.Though the band splintered over half a decade ago, with their new groups performing pretty damn well for themselves thank you, the band are still a breath of fresh air in today's stagnant music scene. This box set offers an excellent insight into the development of their career. With the booming, heavy as a concrete elephant second album "blues for the red sun" they established a genre that wretch could never had indicated towards in terms of sheer quality. Their third album "welcone to sky valley" was groundbreaking to say the least and was what really set them appart from every other band at the time. Their final album "...and the circus leaves town" was certainly a fitting way to leave the group on a high point with blisteringly heavy tracks leading into some of the most tender moments in musical history. If you don't own all of these albums already buy the ones you need to complete your collection. If you don't own any Kyuss albums yet then buy this box... you will not regret it!

Standout tracks

Blues for the red sun:-thumb,molten universe, yeah.

Welcome to sky valley:-100 degrees,Demon cleaner,Super scoopa and mighty scoop. And the circus leaves town:-One inch man,El Rodeo,Tangy Zizzle

With thirty seven tracks for under $25 dollars this is not to be missed

- The masters of heavy surrealism

It is utterly impossible to go wrong with these three albums by Kyuss. All the adjectives I would use to describe them have been worn down by use on less amazing bands. I'll just say, this was one of the best band of the 90's, possibly ever, making truly uncompromising music that was at the same time playful, dreamy, heavy, and truthful.

- This is it....

Kyuss is THE rock band of the AGES!

EYE (I) first become aware of the BEST heavy rock band, KYUSS (pronounced KAI-US), with SKY VALLEY. When I first listened to it, the sheer force of those c-tuned heavy guitars took me away to the desert and I have yet to return. These songs continue to inspire and, other than it's later incarnations in THE DESERT SESSIONS and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, nothing even compares to it today.

BLUES FOR THE RED SUN completely captures the essence of the band. From relentless riffs that chug along, highlighted by sweet licks and harmonics to sheer virtuosity, KYUSS gives you everything you'd want and more.

SKY VALLEY is an epic three sided masterpiece of heavy metal that truly takes you on a journey through the Californian high desert. The opening thunderous riffs on GARDENIA let you know what the ride is about . From heavy and bawdy metal songs to soft and gentle accoustic jams , the album moves seemlessly from song to song as it paints rich and textured musical images that are truly one of a kind in music anywhere.

AND THE CIRCUS LEAVES TOWN is pretty good, but of the three, for me it ranks third. It's more hit or miss, but it's chocked full of the goods on SPACESHIP LANDING and EL RODEO.

KYUSS is always a mainstay in my rotation and I've since gone on with THE DESERT SESSIONS and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE because I feel the heart of all these bands has been the fierce and epic guitar work and song writing of JOSH HOMME.

I urge you the make the move, because once you venture into the desert you'll have no reason to return.

- Reccomended for Queens fans only

My exposure to Kyuss happenned after I purchased Rated R by Queens of the Stone Age 5 years ago. This box set hints at the things to come from QOTSA. There are some bright moments on each of the discs. If they could have put together a best of of the three discs we might be still listening to Kyuss and QOTSA would have never happenned but they just couldn't quite put together that must have disc and now we have QOTSA, thankfully.

I know some have pointed to the vocals but for me the songs themselves are just not quite there. As a Queens fan myself this is a must have but I would not recommend this to non Queens fans.
