Kylie's output from the past decade or so gets good representation on this way too short collection of remixes (let's be serious--we'd need at least THREE discs to handle it). The highlight of this volume in the 'essential mixes' series is that they didn't skimp on the lengths of the mixes, so it doesn't suffer from the use of edits. Track times:
Confide In Me (Phillip Damien Mix) (6:26)
Put Yourself In My Place (Driza-Bone Mix) (4:49)
Where Is The Feelin' (Felix Da Housekat Klubb Feelin Mix) (10:50)
Did It Again (Trouser Enthusiasts' Goddess Of Contortion Mix) (10:23)
Some Kind Of Bliss (Quivver Mix) (8:40)
Breathe (Sash! Club Mix) (5:22)
Too Far (Brothers In Rhythm Mix) (10:23)
Confide In Me (Justin Warfield Mix) (5:27)
Breathe (TNT's Club Mix) (6:44)
Kylie: Essential Mixes is nothing more than a lazy cash-in attempt via BMG, and I do mean lazy... so lazy, in fact, that they could not even be arsed to include an item description here on amazon.com! Kudos to Amazon.com reviewer Daniel W. Kelly for taking the time to provide an itemized track listing for our reference.
Each of the mixes included on this CD has appeared on a commercially-released Kylie CD, so there is nothing special or exclusive to be found here for a loyal Minogue fan. Also, the mix included of "Where Is The Feeling?" does not even classify as "essential" since the BIR Bish Box Mix and BIR Soundtrack were the versions used to promote the track.
As Kylie only released 7 singles in the UK during her brief affiliation with BMG (via deconstruction records), they could have at least rounded out the set with three previously unreleased mixes - one for scrapped single "Time Will Pass You By" and perhaps the acoustic version or an alternate Philip Damien remix of "Confide In Me" and one of the K-Klass mixes of "Where Is The Feeling?", all still languishing in the vaults. If nothing else, they could have finally issued the BIR Bish Bosh Edit on CD as it has only been released on promotional cassette back in 1995.
This item might be of interest to a new Kylie fan who seeks an overview of her earlier output, though they would be better served to seek out her previously released CD-singles, remix compilations, and special editions of Kylie Minogue and Impossible Princess - these are widely available from online sellers and digital music stores. Her more adoring fans will deem this release as the pointless, pathetic, and dare I say insulting cash-in attempt that it is. Very sad indeed, as it could have been so much more. When are the record labels going to realize that fans do not fall for these bogus products, and finally add something interesting to these releases? The fans are not going to fork over cash for a rehash of what they already have...

Mostly older tracks, some with multiple remixes, none of them truly "Essential". OK for background music, but probably best for Kylie purists.
