Review - Product Description
On March 6th, Julieta Venegas recorded her MTV Unplugged at the Churubusco Studies in Mexico City, where she presented new songs besides interpreting some of her greatest hits in an intimate atmosphere to a live audience.

This production counts on important and interesting collaborations like two time Oscar winner, Gustavo Santaolalla, who accompanied her with the banjo and sang the chorus of the song "Algun Dia (Someday)". Brazilian singer, Marisa Monte featured in song "Illusion", a new and beautiful song that combines the Spanish and Portuguese language.

Also Mala Rodriguez joined Julieta and included a strong hip hop movement to the song "Eres Para Mi (You are for Me)", whereas the vocalist of Porter, Juan Carlos had a unique participation in "Algun Dia (Someday)".

In addition, the very talented Natalia Lafourcade comprised of the orchestra and played several instruments during the night, whereas the talented musician and composer, Jacques Morelenbaum accompanied Julieta on the cello in "De mis Pasos (From my foot steps)".

People en Español
There’s no doubt that Julieta Venegas is talented in the recording studio. Three great albums have proved her originality (Aquí,, Bueninvento, ) and the demand for her music (Limón y Sal sold a million copies). But on stage, Venegas doesn’t exude much energy or passion, so making a live album was risky for her career. On the other hand, like Alanis Morissette, Venegas was born to sing in small and intimate acoustic concert venues, and away from the masses, she knows how to create the magic one can find in her albums. On MTV Unpluggged, Venegas invites performers like Natalia Lafourcade, La Mala Rodríguez, Marisa Monte, and Juan Son to recreate new versions of her greatest hits that result in fresh and exciting collaborations. It’s a great musical montage of her practically perfect career.

- Mexican POP Extravaganza

Jullieta Venegas sounds delightful in this remarkable MTV Unplugged album.

I was truly pleasantly surprised and would highly reccommend it even if it

is your first time buying Latin Pop. She has a beautiful distinctive voice and

musicians with a lot of heart and soul to accompany her.

A must have for your collection.

- Why didn't I buy this sooner?

My taste in music is all over the place, from Tom Waits to Dragon Ash to Aphex Twin to Pharoahe Monch, I'll listen to anything. Amazon constantly recommended Julieta Venegas' Unplugged album here for the past few months, and I was hesitant on it. I'd never heard of her, and while I do listen to all genres, Mexican music isn't my thing. 'odd to say given my ethnicity, I know. But I checked out a few videos from this performance and after the second one, I bought the album. Her voice is captivating, as is the way she performs. As soon as she busted out the accordion for Sería Feliz, I was in love. I'm ashamed to have not given this a chance sooner, and now plan on giving all of her albums a shot.

Really, for anyone curious about her music, check out samples or videos for the first 4 songs. Every single track on here is great, but I feel those 4 really set the tone and show you how diverse the music that accompanies her vocals can be. I was impressed. It's definitely Mexican, but modern, and jazzy at times too. Sadly, my knowledge of this genre of music is limited to what I hear on the radio in my area and at family gatherings, but I'll be sure to bring this album with me next time and see how everyone does with it. Also, the audio on this album is perfect- the crowd never cheers too loudly to the point where you can't hear what she's saying or singing, and all the instruments can be heard clearly. And of course, you don't have to know Spanish to enjoy the songs. Heck, my Spanish skills are literally at a 3rd grade level, but I understood a lot, and what I didn't know, didn't matter because the songs are beautiful regardless.

Also be sure to get the dvd/blu-ray of this performance to see this stunning woman in action. It'll be one of the best concert performances you'll buy.

- Wonderful.

It's obvious Julieta enjoys what she's doing. I've heard alot of music...I currently own hundreds of albums from all over the world and she is one of my favorites. I've heard very few artists who can time and time again deliver amazing preformances one after the other. Not only does she sing she writes songs, plays the accordion, produces, and arranges as well. I own, including this album, four of her five (not including her best of). This album is amazing, she breathes new life into her best songs and offers a few new ones to boot. Unplugged performaces often suffer from trying to hard to recreate what was originally done with electric guitars and haevy studio mixing. Naturally she does a very good job.

- Amazing

Julieta Venegas is a very talented musician and did an incredible job with this album. She uses guest performers (Marisa Monte, La Mala Rodriguez, etc.), different instruments (an orchestra), tempo changes and slightly variant melodies to re-create her songs in a way that makes you happy to own a second recording. It is a very fun album and I can't help but singing along while I listen. I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone, even if you don't understand spanish.

- Grande!

I heard this young woman interviewed on NPR and then looked for and ordered this CD. I am not a Spanish speaker (wish I were) but the music and her style is simply wonderful.
