I can readily understand the 1- and 2-star reviews assigned earlier because this was yet another example of someone (producer Rob Fraboni?) deciding what he personally determined to be his "Greatest Hits" to that point (1977 release on A&M SP 69923). In fact, he had 15 Billboard Pop Hot 100 charted singles to that stage in the U.S. (one song charted twice), and while they do provide 10, they also include three tracks that not only were not among his greatest hits (The Jealous Kind, I Think It's Going To Rain and Darling Be Home Soon), they weren't even the B-sides of any of his hits!
Good songs. But not under an album title such as that. And the ones they chose to omit were "greater" hits than many of those included! These are: She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, a # 30 Hot 100 in December 1969/January 1970 on A&M 1147; Midnight Rider, a # 27 Hot 100 in September/October 1972 on A&M 1370 billed as Joe Cocker With The Chris Stainton Band (but they DO include the # 56 Hot 100 flip, Woman To Woman - did Fraboni arbitrarily decide again that that was a "greater" hit?); Pardon Me Sir, a # 51 Hot 100 in February/March 1973 on A&M 1407; Put Out The Light, a # 46 Hot 100 in July 1974 on A&M 1539; and It's A Sin When You Love Somebody, listed as a # 5 Hot 100 "Follow Along" in February/March 1975 as the flip of You Are So Beautiful on A&M 1641 - his last hit for the label.
Some may argue that a "follow along" side is not to be included amongst the greatest hits - but then they obviate that argument by including an even lower "follow along" in Black-Eyed Blues! No consistency.
The tracks, with writers shown in brackets, are:
Side One
1. With A Little Help From My Friends (John Lennon & Paul McCartney) - 4:05 - # 68 December 1968 on A&M 9981
2. Woman To Woman (Joe Cocker & Chris Stainton) - 4:26 - # 56 in Dec 1972/Jan 1973 on A&M 1370
3. The Jealous Kind" (Robert Guidry) - 3:48 - from the album Stingray
4. Black-Eyed Blues (Joe Cocker) - 4:37 - regarded as a # 22 "Follow Along" in June 1971 as the flip of High Time We Went on A&M 1258
5. I Think It's Going To Rain (Randy Newman) - 3:55 - from the album Jamaica Say You Will
6. Cry Me A River (Arthur Hamilton) - 3:50 - # 11 Oct/Nov 1970 on A&M 1200 - recorded live at New York's Fillmore East
Side Two
1. You Are So Beautiful (Billy Preston & Bruce Fisher) - 2:39 - # 5 Hot 100 and # 12 Adult Contemporary Jan/Feb 1975 on A&M 1641
2. Feelin' Alright (Dave Mason) - 4:12 - # 69 July 1969 on A&M 1063 with backing vocals by Brenda Holloway and Mary Clayton
3. Delta Lady (Leon Russell) - 2:51 - # 69 October 1969 on A&M 1112
4. Darling Be Home Soon (John Sebastian) - 4:49 from the album Joe Cocker

6. The Letter (Wayne Carson Thompson) - 4:20 - # 7 April/May 1970 on A&M 1174 billed as Joe Cocker with Leon Russell & The Shelter People
this cd took me way back. still love his music. timeless classic. recommend it highly to my friends. love it.
This cd brings back a lot of memories, if you like Joe Cocker this is one of his best albums ever made.
This was the best price I could fine all over and its good to have in my library again
While this is a decent CD some essentials are missing. She came in through the bathroom window, Joe's first hit is not included. This collection was also released prior to the release of Up where we belong and When the night comes.
Forget this greatest hits CD collection it's not the best just get Joe Cocker's anthology you'll thank me when you do!
