Review - Amazon.com
Homecoming, pianist Jim Brickman's 16th career release (his third with a holiday theme, joining The Gift and Peace), is an unerringly pleasant, gently uplifting package that delivers what most listeners probably want--a smart-sounding, family-friendly audio backdrop suited for any December gathering. Brickman's mix of nine instrumentals and four vocal tracks (seven are rearranged traditional works) carefully straddles a fine line between sophistication and sentimentality. Happily, other than a few heavily star-dusted moments (the final note of "I Saw Three Ships" sparkles as though it was touched by Tinkerbell's wand), the schmaltz factor is acceptably modest. More demanding Brickman listeners will probably wish he had dug deeper into the richer emotional terrain he visits on "Thanksgiving," the disc's opening track, and his ruminating interpretation of "Still Nacht." But holiday discs are audience-builders, so we instead get a double dose of former Lonestar vocalist Richie McDonald (with two nearly identical versions of "Coming Home for Christmas," an eyes-to-the-sky heart-clutcher), and the late Gerald Levert crooning a holiday version of "My Angel," a parent-to-child love song that originally appeared on Brickman's Escape disc. Not a flawless release, but definitely a cut above most easy-listening holiday fare. --Terry Wood

- Coming Home for Christmas

He has done it once again. Even though it is just now approaching the 1st of October, this will definately make you wish for those chilly nights decorating the tree, baking cookies, and drinking hot chocolate in front of the fireplace. I don't know how you can continue to release Christmas albums {CD's} year after year and still manage to keep everything fresh and new. But as evidenced by this beautiful CD, you have. This CD is a MUST HAVE for the upcoming holiday season. This CD has many beautiful songs, old & new on it and the collaborations are outstanding...with Anne Cochran, Tracy Silverman, David Klinkenberg, Peter White and the very talented late Gerald Levert. This is a welcome addition to anyone's holiday collection.

- Beautiful album to celebrate the season!

Jim Certainly does it again! What a beautiful album to celebrate the season! Hearing guest artist, Richie McDonald was a real treat. Anyone that loves Lonestar will appreciate his take on "Coming Home for Christmas." Without a doubt, this will be the song of the season.

- Homecoming 2008 and 2010

I am a huge Jim Brickman fan and purchased this CD in 2008...it is absolutely beautiful!! I had also purchased some copies for friends for Christmas gifts last year, and they also thought this to be a beautiful Christmas CD.

Saw where the CD was available again this year at an even better price, so sent for 5 more copies. However, the CD's I received only had 10 songs on them and not the 13 as advertised here on the website. Sent the order back and asked for a replacement...I really wanted to give this CD as gifts this year. The next set of CD's I received were also incorrect...they went back as well. However, I'm being charged for shipping and don't believe I should be as this was Amazon's error.

I let Amazon know their error several times, so if the error is corrected and the original CD with 13 songs on it is advertised, I heartily recommend it. If, however, you're ok with only 10 songs, the 10 songs provided on the CD are also quite lovely and are on the original CD as well

.

PLEASE NOTE: Oct. 6, 2010 ~ CD Network has gone above and beyond to try and rectify this matter. They told me they had no idea I was being sent the wrong CD, tried to contact Amazon 3 times about the issue, but nobody from Amazon ever contacted them about the problem. CD Network has since found a copy of the original CD and is sending it to me free of charge for all the problems I had with this order. I am grateful for their kindness.

ALSO NOTE ~ Amazon has since refunded me the shipping charges as well. Said there had been a "technical error" with the order.

- Not Just Another Christmas Album

Jim Brickman just has this amazing ability to bring a fresh approach to everything he touches. While you will find some of the songs selections from Homecoming on other Christmas albums the interpretation remains original and interesting. This is an excellent holiday album.

- Truly Homecoming

The "Homecoming" by Jim brickman has a special touch to the songs with sentimental values of coming home. The songs goes out to all those stive hard to get back to their homes in the holiday season. The songs reminds me of my time spent with the family and how i long to get back to them !!
