I like Jay-Z, and R kelly can be good ..., but this is awful and made strictly for the money and reflects the music industry's current state......in dire needs of originality.
Before I start, let me just ask one question: Who was asking for an R. Kelly/Jay-Z collabo album, anyway? Sure, "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" and the "Fiesta" remix were bangers, but that's no reason to run to the studio and throw an album together. But it sounds like that's exactly what the two brothas did.
The Best of Both Worlds is full of been-there, done-that material over below average production mostly by the Trackmasters. A shame, since Jay-Z just released his critically acclaimed The Blueprint and R. Kelly got some props with his TP2.com some time ago. Truly, this album will only appeal to the die-hard fans of either artist.
R. Kelly is known for pushing some great ballads like "I Believe I Can Fly" and some corny raunchy songs like "Half on a Baby". On this effort, he shoots for the latter and brings us such material as "Naked" and "Somebody's Girl". There is also a huge lack of his soulful singing that he used to overcome his questionable songwriting like he did on his past albums. As for Jay-Z, he spits okay lyrics but they're far from his best. "Break Up To Make Up" showcases him once again biting Biggie's catalogue spitting, "Think about it while the streets you roam...", and "Shake Ya Body" features a tight flow but full of nothing special.
Sure, the song titles are generic ("Naked", "Shake Ya Body", "Get This Money", "Shorty", etc.), but production is the biggest flaw. This album is full of undercooked beats and rhythm that if you tried to bump them in the car or at a party you'll slap yourself silly. Mostly done by the Trackmasters, they are also repetitive, as you'll hear the same drum-and-hand-clap percussion in songs like "Shorty" and "Somebody's Girl" that was already used in Ludacris and co.'s "Fatty Girl", City High's "Caramel" remix, Michael's "You Rock My World" remix, and even in the "Fiesta" remix. Soon they get to be so repetitive that even the Neptunes would complain about the redundancy.
Though Jay's rap on "Honey" will make listeners wonder what if the whole album was that exciting, this album just won't be missed by anyone. If you do decide to get it, be ready to put your fast-forward button into early retirement. This is reason why you should pick up their SOLO albums instead if you want Kelly and Hova's best. Because if these guys are The Best of Both Worlds, then what are these worlds coming to?
Frist things first
(1)Beats are horrible
(2)Weak Lyrics
(3)Lame Production
OK theres 1 or 2 songs where theres chemistry but ...rest of the album is just a poor excuse...rkelly's nsync drinage sellout lyrics were so ... weak..
even then his lyrics are poor compared to the 5 STAR BLUEPRINT!
This is something that everyone should stay away from...i mean both of them clearly say that they did it for the money on almost every song! what more do u need....So is this album download worthy? Umm NOT entirely. listen to the track samples before u download ...no point in wasting 2 minutes on your cable modem :) ....and if u really wna spend some money get the new Ol' Dirty Bastard album ....atleast it will make u laugh :)...........im looking forward to jayzs new album..but for now i'll stick with NAS thank u!
Alright,R.Kelly's Tp2.com was blazin and Jay Z's The Blueprint was off the hinges,so what da [heck] happened? I wasn't looking for nothing great i mean feista wasen't one of jay's high points. But I felt that jay would drop some hot lyrics and Kelly would do what he do but i was wrong. The colaboration was horriable.I give this album probably 2 tracks that are worth listing to more than once."Break up,to make up" is kind of juvenile in a herd that before kinda way but it is a good track, thats one they both come threw on.The other is "It aint personal" it tells how your freinds change after da doe which is true. Other honorable mentions are "shorty" and the Best of Both worlds intro. To me the intro is tight how they go back and forth. But the downside of the albums plays on on tracks like "shake ya body","honey",and others that are just not up to par. Even the singles are lame!Kelly comes threw on a track tittled "naked" which sounds really out of place on this album.Jay should have put a solo joint on here too but the way he was deliverin i rather him let kelly sing every song. The biggest problem wit this album is the way kelly constantly tries to put a sort of rap/talk thing into every song which realy sounds like he's not even trien. To top it off, they could have let this bird cook a little longer before droppin it,because it lacks that spark that 2 super stars should have. I guess jay and kell. wanted more money out of us?
R. Kelly and Jay-Z...These two doing an album together seemed like a match made in music heaven.R. Kelly-the don of R&B and Jay-Z-the King of mainstream rap.
Kelly's sweeping vocals and Jay's wry, witty, proudly haughty rhymes over worthy beats..."The Best Of Both Worlds",indeed.Right?
Umm...I don't about that.Yeah,on paper,"The Best Of Both Worlds" seems like an excellent idea. But an idea and an extucal exercusion are two different things,
Most of the album comes off half-done and misunderstood. Most of the chemistry
In result of this,"Best Of Both Worlds" doesn't come across as a cohesive album but more like a complaition of radio-ready selections.Tracks like "Honey" and
There's nothing on here that's groundbreaking or new,in fact,it shows how rotiune
Even with it's many shortcomings,"Best" has some decent stuff."Get This Money"
Overall,"Best Of Both Worlds" is very disapointing. Those who really wanted
