I bought this DVD set on an impulse and I am pleased to say I do not regret it. Janet Jackson is, by far, a top performer and in her prime. Her dance is fierce, her voice flawless, and her songs haunting. I had never seen Janet perform before these DVDs nor did I really know her music outside of the album, Damita Jo, which I bought for one song and now have worn out the entire CD since, and I am now somewhat regretting the fact that I did not discover her before. Janet is a true performer, and a true diva, in both The Velvet Rope Tour and the All For You Tour. I found the All For You Tour truely uniquie as cameras went backstage to reveal all the comotion during coztume changes. And for all those parents out there wondering if they can show this to their kids, I assure you, there is no "costume malfunction" in either tour. There is, however, much awesome dancing, a gorgeous voice, and a super-sexy woman in both "The Velvet Rope" Tour and the "All For You" Tour. Work it girl!
Two of the greatest stage tours of the past 5 years....together in one DVD package. The price is absolutely amazing. I had no idea it was even being released this way.
If you like concerts - PICK THIS ONE UP!
Janet kicks anyone's butt who tries to top her. She is by far the best performer of the Pop era. The Velvet Rope & Live in Hawaii are classics. I own them both seperatly but I'm reviewing this because it's the two combined. WOULD YOU MIND is so hott!! God Bless You All who LOVE Janet & GOD BLESS JANET!!
Janet Jackson is teh absolute BEST! Get it haters. The Beyonce Experince can't touch either concert. Her Rhythm Nation Tour is also one of the best. The Janet Tour is classic. And when she tours again this year she will set the world on its collective butts as this 40 plus year old beautiful woman show the b*tches how its done. Take notes Ciara and Britney grow your hair back and study a Queen.
This Collectors' Edition is excellent value for money - you get both Janet's Velvet Rope and All For You tours.
High energy, tight choreography and exuberant performances make repeated viewings. From the two concerts, there are recurrent themes of:
1) Janet performing her Control medley of hits and an acoustic set of Let's Wait Awhile type ballads.
2) Janet selecting a male audience member and proceed to do a sexy routine on him, though it's far raunchier on the Live In Hawaii show.
3) There's a very vivid, colourful and lively circus/funfair/court jester part.
4) With all that jumping, Janet does ask the audience to help her out to sing parts of the songs but I'm thankful this isn't overdone.
5) A segment where Janet and the dancers don masks.
6) Closing songs for both shows is Together Again - very fun and memorable, great finale.
On Live In Hawaii, there are some extras. A Janet interview and clips of her doing her stuff with several selected men from the audience. What a tease!
