I have always been a huge Janet fan. I have quite a few of her CD's, however, this is the 1st CD Single I have bought by Janet. I like tracks 1 & 4 the best. (Original Version & Masters @ Work Alternative Mix) The Teddy Riley Mix isn't all that bad either, BUT this would have been better, IF, the Timbaland/Missy Elliot remix would have been featured.
Janet's Go Deep Mixes are not her best work, but the stand out tracks on this Import are "T.R. Funk Mix" and "Masters at Work Down Tempo Mix" and of course the original album version. This CD is a must buy if you collect Janet singles. I wish they had added the Missy/Timbaland Remix on this single, That remix was off the hook!
This CD was great! Can definitely see why it was hailed as one of the best of the year when it was released. Lots of folks have issues with this CD being so introspective, but I think Ms. Jackson has put her feelings/pain that most of us can relate to out there so we can see she's not a prima donna. While "Go Deep" is the fun-nest track--in the spirit of what I call the "Janet happy go lucky formula" like "Escapade", "When I Think of You", and so on. Love the edginess of "What About". "Got 'Til Its Gone" is the cool out groove on the album. "Together Again" is such an awesome song because I have personally watched Janet's words help so many of my friends and family (even those who dared to tell me they were not Janet fans) cope wit the loss of very special people in their lives. (And by the way, everyone of them is now a Janet convert.) I have given this CD to quite a few people as gifts and they all love. If you didn't like this CD initially, give it another listen and buy it for a friend.
It doesn't matter what she does, she always does it well! The original track stuck out on the album, and the remixes are brilliant. The Masters at Work do their stuff combining a "thunder"ing track with flutes and all. The increased catchiness shown by the Missy remix is unbelieveable! I don't own the CD-yet but have the remix on cassette.
This song is just so funky that it should be no.1 around the world
