Out of the Silent Planet is the second single from Maiden's amazing "Brave New World" album. Out of the Silent Planet is great. It has a similar "Run to The Hills" gallop to it. Very catchy and very cool. This version is shortened from the album version of it. It is cut down from over 8 minutes to about four and a half minutes for radio air play. A truly great song. The video is great as well. It showcases footage from Maiden's Metal 2000 tour earlier this year. The two live tracks are another great addition. "Wasted Years" and "Aces High" are two of Maiden's best songs in my opinion. It's really cool because I think that this is the first time "Wasted Years" has been recorded live and put on CD. And hearing "Aces High", the opening track from the Ed Hunter Tour, gives me chills because it sounds just as I remember it on that tour and I remember how great that show really was.
Iron Maiden is one of the heavy metal greats. This song is truly awesome. It starts of slow-then hits you like a freight train. The harmonies and vocals and solos are incredibly good and is a testament to how strong Maiden still is.
OOTSP, the second track off Iron Maiden's 2000 album, "Brave New World" is a testament that Maiden is still rocking as hard as ever. Although the track is edited from the full album version, it maintains the elements that make it one of the album's best. The harmonic vocals on the track are mesmerizing, and the powerful riffs will keep you begging for more. The fact that this single contains "Wasted Years" live is a treat in and of itself, being one of the Maiden tracks that is rarely ever played on tour. Plus, the video with footage from Maiden's 2000 tour will make you wish you had been there. Up the Irons!!
This third single from the new era is not a good one. The new version of the song "Out of the Silent Planet" is a little heavier than the original version. It also lacks the early beginning which, in my opinion, shouldn't have been cut. Besides, the live songs are not well mixed. "ces High" sounds quite different from the original version but it is,by far, not as good as the version on "Live after Death". "Wasted Year" sounds a little better. Adrian is simply driving the crowd crazy with his awesome solo, but I still think it was not well mixed. furthernmore, other songs should have been included in one of the three singles, like "The Trooper" and "The Clansman" which are songs that sounded great with three guitars.
Out of the Silent Planet is the third single from Iron Maiden's new albun "Brave New World" (the other two are Wicker Man parts 1 and 2). The actual song in this single is an edited version of the orginal song of 6.26 minutes down to about four. The song has very good grinding guitars, and great vocals from Bruce Dickinson. There is also the ubiquitous Iron Maiden gallop which is perpetuated by Harris' bass and Nicko's drums. The live version of Wasted Years is from the Ed Hunter tour and is performed very well. The song has been a crowd favourite ever since it appeared on the 'Somewhere in Time' album. Overall a great single, albeit a bit pricey.
