- Interpol Lights Brightly on Stunning Debut Album

Even though released in Fall 2002, Interpol's debut album "Turn on the Bright Lights" is really making waves in 2003, thanks in part to relentless touring by the band.

This collection gets a soaring start with "Untitled" which for some reason reminds me of the Stone Roses' "I Wanna Be Adored". "PDA" (1st single) and "Obstacle 1" (2nd single) are the best tracks of the album, guitar-driven, very high-energy. Other oustanding tracks include "Say Hello to Angels" (3rd single), "Stella" and "The New". This import version comes with two bonus tracks: the short instrumental "Interlude" (which opens their current tour) and the incredible "Specialist", which in its studio form is otherwise only available on the very hard to find "PDA" single (a/k/a "Interpol EP"). The inclusion of both tracks makes this the definitive version of the album.

Whether Interpol will be able to climb out of critical acclaim to mass-popularity remains to be seen (which sadly says says a lot about today's music industry, as Interpol gets virtually no airplay). On the account of their impeccable debut album, they sure deserve it.

- Ok, you got me!

When I first got a copy of Turn On The Bright Lights I log in to Amazon.com and reviewed it giving it a 4 star rating. After listening to this album couples times more I wished I could of edited my review and raised it to a 5 star album. I played this album so much that I realized that it was all worned out, so I had to get myself a new one. I logged on to Amazon.com again and for my surpise saw this special edition with two bonus tracks on it.

Interlude and Specialist are as powerful as any other song on the record. The former is an instrumental, the latter is another slow song from the album, giving it a perfect end to what will surely be consider a top debut in the decade, or why not? One of the decade's top albums.

- LINER NOTES IN JAPANESE!!!

Great CD. Love their sound. It says its an import but doesnt mention that its imported from Japan so except for the words to the songs, the rest is in Japanese. Good luck and happy reading!

- Interpol-Words Can't Do Them Justice

If someone asked me to describe this album in one word,it would be: "Wow".

Interpol is a great little band from NY that really knows how to make an unforgettable song. And they really showed it on this CD.This is one of those rare albums that you can listen to all the way through without having to skip a track.

Although,it is hard to choose which song to listen too because they are all incredible. No matter if it's the looming "Obstacle 1", the enchantingly beat-driven "PDA", The squeaky clean "Say Hello To The Angels", or the lullaby-esque "Stella Was A Diver, And She Was Always Down", you just can't lose.

The only thing bad about this album is that if you pass it up,you may kill yourself. And no one wants that to happen.Whatever you do,buy this album. It will NOT disappoint you.
