Seasoned veteran Hypocrisy has unleashed a live album which not only serves as a greatest-hits album (minus the epic "Request Denied"), but also a perfect starting point for those unfamiliar with the band's striking repertoire. The sound quality live is both excellent and very accurate, having seen them destroy Milwaukee Metalfest in 1996. All the Hypocrisy staples and classics are here, including "Roswell 47," "Left to Rot," "Osculum Obscenum," and "Apocalypse. Tacked on at the end, though, are four studio tracks, which leave the listener with mixed feelings. "Beginning of the End" and "Unkill the End" are excellent songs, in the typical Hypocrisy vein. "Time Warp" and "Fuck U" sound like some strange crust punk-Hypocrisy hybrid. Quite possibly, listeners are seeing Hypocrisy's boredom in the recording studio, not a new direction for the band. Let's hope so, because listeners want more apocalyptic, X-File-ish, Swedish metal mayhem like The Final Chapter, not the new Discharge.
