- Mahler & Abravanel & Utah Symphony & Vanguard Forever

I have all the Mahler recordings from Vanguard Classics. Whether you get the 'analog' or the 'digital' version - you will not be disappointed. The separation, imaging and transparency is top-notch.

The performances are executed with passion & professionalism. Vanguard engineers know how to record symphonic music - obviously a great challenge when one considers how difficult it is to find great music captured with great fidelity. The level of consistency in terms of performance and recording quality is quite even throughout the series.

Mahler's music sounds contemporary to my ears. Very rich, grand, expansive sound reflecting artistic expression of a very high order. I listen to different formats including classical & modern jazz, classical & grunge rock, Afro-rythms but no music stimulates my senses like Mahler.
