Review - Amazon.com
In a genre often overwhelmed with flash and flamboyance, Gerald Levert is a low-key love man. The son of O'Jays belter Eddie Levert, Gerald has served up a string of hits since the mid-'80s, either with the trio LeVert ("Casanova"), the '90s supergroup LSG ("My Body"), or as a solo artist. Yet despite his sustained success, he remains underappreciated, which is a shame because what the gruff-voiced singer lacks in Q-ratings he makes up for with his rugged delivery of romantic songs. His first CD since 1999's G is another collection of tough but tender R&B--grown-up in focus but laced with just enough edgy attitude. The down-home, late-night "Soul Mate" and the unabashedly sentimental ballad "Made to Love Ya" find Gerald testifying passionately about love and life's ups and downs. Without breaking a sweat, he gives better-known superstars something to aim for. --Amy Linden

- Much Love for Gerald

Gerald Levert is an R&B talent who (in my opinion) often goes unnoticed. On his latest CD, "Gerald's World", he does an excellent job of showcasing his vocal talent.

This CD is one of his best works. I listened to it completely without skipping one track and I enjoyed it. Of course the most popular track on this CD will be "Made To Love You" and deservedly so. Initially I didn't like "Dream with No Love" when it was released however this one has grown on me. Other tracks not to be missed are "Just Us", "What you Cryin About", "Forever You and Me"and "#1".

Fans of mellow R&B music will love this CD. It is a great mood setter.

- It's "GERALD'S WORLD", and we're listening to it!

I have always known that Gerald Levert has a masterful voice, but he was just one of those artists that I didn't have to have in my collection. If I bought it, then I bought it, and if I didn't, then I didn't-no sweat here. I have heard quite a few songs from this balladeer, and I can truly say that this latest offering is the best of the best! Gerald have never strayed far from the norm when it came to his love songs, but this time, it seems that he went above and beyond to make a lasting impression. The songs still have that old school groove, but a little updated flavor have been inserted to make each selection stand out on it's own. I have repeated this disc over and over and still find myself amazed that I am recommending it to all my people. I may not have collected all of his disc, but I am bold enough to say that THIS is one of his best!

- Gerald's World

Despite his success, Gerald Levert always seems to operate outside the trendy R&B mainstream. Maybe it's his Cleveland homebase, or perhaps it's his classic soul lineage, as the son of the O'Jays' Eddie Levert. But whatever the reason, your average G album sounds just a little more down-to-earth than the competition, and Gerald's World is no exception. There's certainly nothing new about its richly produced, ballad-heavy soul, which draws inspiration from both old masters and new jacks and is pretty similar to other items in Levert's back catalog. Yet if the tunes and the moves are overly familiar, you have to give Levert credit for sticking with good ones, and investing them with his own warmth and passion. That approach turns the road-weary chord progression of "Made To Love Ya" into a lovers' anthem, and invests the gospel-ish "What Makes It Good To You (No Premature Lovin')" with fresh appeal. And when G spins an old-fashioned heartbreaker of a yarn on "DJ Played Our Song," he does his dad proud. Gerald's World isn't without treacle, of course--the jittery "#1" is the best (or worst) example--but it's a reassuring place to visit in these turbulent times

- Enter His World

Gerald Levert can flat out sing. On his latest effort, Gerald's World, he expertly crafts an album that balances old-fashioned r&b with some modern bump & grind. He wraps his voice around such strong efforts like "Same 'Ol", "#1", "Made To Love You", "Soul Mate" and the stellar "DJ Played Our Song". Mr. Levert consistently makes great albums and Gerald's World continues his winning streak.

- Gerald's World Gerald Levert

Gerald Levert is one of the great vocalists, male or female, of his generation. It is a shame that his voice is drowned out by the persistent, formulaic, and predictable boom and click ("noise")of computerized keyboard and drum machine programming. The boom and click drones on for the length of the CD making it nearly impossible to discern when on song ends and another begins. One notable exception is the ballad "Made to Love Ya". Hopefully the record company will one day surround him with musicians that play real musical instruments and produce MUSIC worthy of his talents. The voice gets an A, the production and all else fails.
