- Hey, it's still George Jones

This modestly-programmed collection is a good overview of his final work for the MCA label from 1991-98. The disc opens with Jones struggling to feign interest in the rock-oriented "young country" sound; the problem was with the formula, not with his singing, which remains great to this day. There are some notable songs, such as "Wrong Is What I Do Best," but where things really started to click is on "High-Tech Redneck" and "Walls Can Fall," songs that marked the start of a commercial and creative renaissance that finally got George engaged on an emotional level again. This may be about as much of his music from the period as most folks would need, although diehard fans will also want to track down the original albums.

- George in the '90s

George Jones has recorded for many different labels, most notably Mercury, Columbia and MCA. He is a honky tonk hero, and is a country music legend. And, in 2000, he was given his own installment in the '20th Century Masters' series. In 2000, he was given a second volume in the series.

Unlike the first volume, which focused on his very early recordings on the Mercury label, this focuses on George's lesser-known recordings he made for the MCA Nashville label from 1991-1998. But it's very enjoyable. So how does this set measure up?

Positives

-All of George's major hits from the 1990s are here. 'I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair,' 'High-Tech Redneck,' and 'Walls Can Fall' all appear on this collection.

-The sound quality is excellent, as always.

-You get duets with some of the top country stars! George duets with Sammy Kershaw, the late great Tammy Wynette and Vince Gill on this set.

Negatives

None.

This is an excellent set from his '90s years. Highly recommended for any George Jones fan. ENJOY!!!

- George Jones All Time Greatest Entertainer

I have about 50 or 60 albums (vinyl)of GEO. Jones

I have him with Marge Singlton,Melba Montgomery,

Gene Pitney, Tammy, and all of the outlaws, and

Friends. My wife thinks me crazy when I hear him

sing, I stand up and cross my heart. I have put

all his songs on 90 min. cassetts, they go with me

in my cars.I don't want to hear these other singers

if it don't have a fiddle or steel guitars. GEO.

has stayed with his roots. He has never sung a bad song.
