- Handel in Motion

Handel, whose contemporary was J S Bach, could provide a counter to Bach's style. While Bach could write at the highest level of intricacy and overwhelming beauty of melody, he also could be overwhelming to the general masses' ear.Handel had, at times a more "common" approach to the ear of the general listener. It is easy to understand his popularity at his time. He had the notion of writing music that often was not completely scored for solo instruments, allowing other musicians to add their bent on his music. A perfect example is the "Adagio and Staccato" movement from the Water Music Suite found on this collection. If you look at the score Handel wrote, it is very simplistic. In this performance , a really beutiful and moving oboe solo is found playing above the original score. Delve and you will find more. A beutiful collection performed by world class musicians. Very Good!!!
