- THEIR SIGNATURE SOUND! - Two original L.P.'s Re-issued!

These two classic L.P.'s contain the Four Seasons best Doo Wop material produced.

Here is the signature sound that launched their career.

The big hits that are here can be found on a number of other collections.

What is special about these two albums are the album cuts.

The Four Seasons have transformed several classic's into up-beat,

sing-a-long, Doo Wop treasures.

This twofer is TOTAL listening pleasure.

The hits and b-sides that are here are:

1. "Apple of my eye" b/w "The girl in my dreams".

("Apple of my eye" is the 1964 re-corded version of their original 1956 release,

"You're the apple of my eye" when they were known as The Four Lovers)

2. "Sherry", 1962.

3. "Big girls don't cry", 1962.

4. "Walk like a man" b/w "Lucky ladybug", 1963.

5. "Goodnight my love", 1964 b-side.

6. "Alone", 1964.

7. "Sincerely", 1964.

The hits that are here give a wonderful supportive spine to this collection.

But the real highlights are the album tracks that are found on these two albums.

Here are songs that pop out, and grab you, and bring a smile.

THIS is the Four Seasons at their very best.

With a strong focus on Franki Valli's falsetto voice, these songs are timeless.

Some of them are:

"Yessir that's my baby"

"La Dee Dah"

"Apple of my eye"

"Never on Sunday"

"I can't give you any thing but love"

"Lucky Ladybug"

"Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo"

Tracks like these are what is so enjoyable

and different here in their eariler music.

20 of these 26 songs are not on the very comprehensive

51 track "Anthology" compilation.

This pocket of the Four Seasons Doo Wop sound

is a very refreshing, listening experence!

All original recordings. Re-issued in 1995 by Curb Records.

No liner notes, track listing only. Has excelent sound.

Mono recordings.

Though no sound bites are available with this twofor as of Feb 25, 2011,

sound bites are available for both of these albums at their individual listings.

- Where The Jersey Boys Began!

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons had a brief fling with national popularity as the Four Lovers in the 1950s, but when they started recording for Vee Jay records that is when the legend began. The earliest hits are here when the group notched 5 number 1 hits in a row with only 3 songs. Sherry was number 1 on both the pop and rhythm and blues charts (counting as two number ones). Big Girls Don't Cry matched that track record giving them two more number ones. Then Walk Like A Man went to number one in January 1963 making a total of five number ones, out of their first three releases on Vee Jay. Even the Beatles did not match that. All three of those number ones are on these two first albums by the group. But these albums are more than their hits. Included are the Jersey Boys take on Doo Wop classics they were performing in their stage act and versions of recent hits. In summary, these two albums are a product of their time, but they hold up very well as the years go by.

- I'll tell the world.

This CD features the 4 Seasons first and third albums (their second album was a Christmas album).

was their first album. It was rush released soon after "Sherry" became a #1 hit, so there wasn't much time to write original material for it. Instead, most of the album consists of cover versions of older songs, mostly doo wop classics (including their own doo wop classic, "You're the Apple of My Eye", which they recorded back when they were known as

). Most of the covers are decent, but not really anything special.

was their third album. In addition to their second #1 hit "Big Girls Don't Cry", the album also features their third #1 hit "Walk Like a Man". Once again, the rest of the album largely consists of cover versions of doo wop classics. The best one of these covers is probably "Alone", which became a #28 hit when it was released as a single a year and a half later. The rest of the covers are pretty decent.

These aren't the best albums the 4 Seasons ever released, as they still hadn't quite evolved past the doo wop style they started with. They will really only be of interest to serious 4 Seasons fans.
