Besides all of the MTV videos (and I do mean ALL), some of which you may have missed, especially from Prisoners in Paradise when their American audience started to wane, the real prizes of this video collection is the early footage from Sweden. Hardcore fans know that Europe, shortly after changing their name from The Force, entered a nation-wide talent contest and won. Early footage includes clips from the competition, showcasing a very young but brilliant john Norum in his late teens sounding fantastic. Also, clips from in the studio while the band was making their self-titled debut. There is an early "Wings of Tomorrow "-era clip, featuring a much more polished looking and sounding Europe, and featuring the addition of Mic Michaeli and Ian Haugland. There are a couple of Swedish interviews with the band as well, leaving me wishing I could indeed speak Swedish! I was delighted with the bonus footage, and watched it several times over without getting tired of it. I have been a Europe fan for over twenty years, and I consider this dvd to be a treasure in my collection; it is a must-have for true Europe fans.

A very nice collection of the videos that circulated heavily on MTV when it was still a "Music" channel.

Europe is timeless...they are the epitome of 80s big hair bands and they still rock the music world today. The DVD is fantastic!

I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say that I've not listened to the album The Final Countdown for yonks (yonks is Australian slang for a long long time). And let me just say that the video clip for both the title track to that album and Rock the Night have aged.... very badly indeed! Watching this for the first time was hoot. This is how hard rock really was for a number of years in the 80's. Funnier still is that Europe did it better than most back in the day and as I write they've reconvened and put together a string of darn fine albums of modern guitar driven rock that are better than most of their competitors.

But I digress. This DVD release is one of a spate that have come about due to the bands regeneration and the centrepiece and real reason to buy this album are the ten video clips. Even in the bands hair daze heyday many of these were pretty rare visitors to the TV screen in my native Australia and it really is handy to have proper quality versions of all these clips. Of course the collection only included their triumvirate of ...Countdown, Rock the World and Prisoners in Paradise albums but I'll take `em where I can get `em.

Other curios are to be found in the bonus material. There is some live footage and a clutch of interviews. Now unless you are a Stockholm housewife reliving her wanton youth you probably won't want to watch the TV interview stuff more than once and it would be great if the band were able to present this old footage - it would humanise it and take away a bit of the cheese factor. And really what this release would really benefit from is a booklet inside. I mean, c'mon guys, this is supposed to be something of a career retrospective up until the end of the bands first incarnation isn't it?

At 90 minutes this collection doesn't outstay its welcome, but rather does what it says on the tin. For more extensive live footage of course I'd like to direct you to other releases and notwithstanding the limitations I've mentioned above in relation to the bonus material I have no qualms in giving this collection the four star seal of approval.
