I have 4 Ero albums.
I don't listen to them.
I never really like them at all, even though I have tried and tried to get into his music.
A friend of mine, back from Europe, brought me this album and upon glancing at it, I said to myself "Holy crap, not this guy"
Smiling sweetly, I thanked him and asked him "where's the rest of my presents ya cheap bugger".
After a while I did get to listen to it and now its constantly on my cd player. Its so good. Its so good. (worth repeating!!)
Maybe its the production, but his voice, unique that it is, is very clear and strong. The musicians are superb, true craftsmen/women. And together they have made a superb album. I've listen to it over and over and over. Now I'm brave enough to go back and revisit his other albums I have. But not yet, I'm not through with this one. Strongly recommended!!
I have been waiting for a new album by Eros for a long time, and it was worth the wait. The songs are filled with "nostalgia" from "Piccola Pietra" to "Canzone Per Lei" and "Non Ti Prometto Niente" (my favorites) this album is a must for all Eros and italian music fans!. I am now waiting for you Eros to come and tour the USA?!. Sei bravissimo, complimenti, e un album stupende..bacioni!
I think Eros is the most consistently talented popstar since ABBA were at their peak. Saying that, I must confess that his previous CD Stile Libero was a disastrous failure with its overblown pretensions of Self Important-Megastardom. The duet with Cher ? C'mon.
Nove is a sad work. It compares in mood to Springsteen's Tunnel of Love. Nevertheless the songs are beautiful in their simplicity and are extremely well executed.
Not at the same level as Dove C'e Musica or In Ogni Senso, but still excellent
When I first heard this latest Ramazzotti CD, I felt that it didn't quite live up to its very wonderful predecessor, "Stilelibero." However, upon sustained listening I've comletely changed my mind and decided that "9" is far and away the stronger work. There's no doubt here that Ramazzotti is a seasoned artist at the peak of his form, and this work shows off his talents fully -- thoughtful lyrics, wonderful melodies that will play endlessly in the corners of your mind, and a distinctive voice full of intimacy, warmth and passion. Coming on the heels of the death of his mother and divorce from his wife, it also radiates a decided note of sadness -- but there is joy here too and in the end one has the sense of a life fully lived. The CD starts out with a stunning uptempo rant for a "moment of peace" (Un Attimo di Pace), flavored with a driving percussive beat and Spanish guitar inflections. The mood quickly changes with the second track, "Solo Ieri", a melancholy ballad whose direct simplicity is beautifully orchestrated so as to enhance the feeling without pushing it into easy sentimentality. The pace picks up again with "Un Emozione per Sempre," a classic Eros track that will never fail to make your spirits soar and set your feet tapping. And so it goes with the rest of the album, each song a little gem, as gorgeous as the next, punctuated by little surprises like "Mamarà" and "Falsa Partenza." Don't worry if you don't understand Italian--Eros is an international artist wose greatness is immediately apparent, no matter what your language background. You will come to love this collection.
I am studying Italian, so I thought I would look for a couple of CDs by a currently popular Italian artist. Something to listen and maybe help improve my ability to speak and understand. I just hoped to find something I would not mind listening to.
This CD was beyond my hopes! I listen to it ALOT. It is so good, I came back and picked up 4 more CDs by Eros. I especially like Attimo di Pace and Ti Vorrei Rivivere, but the rest are also very good. Yeah, he has a bit of that nasal tonal quality, but I guess I kinda like it.
Great stuff!
