1. Absolutely lacks the fire of the originals; it sounds tired.

2. At best, the packaging is misleading; at worst, it is fraudulent. Name another "greatest hits" recording that did not consist of the originals?

3. The background vocals sound lame - see #1 above.

The Animals did some great stuff, especially some of their covers of Howlin' Wolf and Little Richard. It's too bad that this tired re-hash is being pawned off as their best.

I have been a fan of Eric Burdon since the 60's..I try to catch him live whenever I can....his old CD's sometimes left something to be desired...NOT THIS ONE...his voice still has the great qualities of the old recordings but with new insight...sound quality is first rate...Eric is first rate...the arrangements are slighly different...but why not....it has been about 35 years since they were first recorded...I hope he records more CD's with the same style and quality as this CD....Eric....DO IT AGAIN.

After following Eric's career for years, and trying to find every variation of the House of the Rising Sun there, i can find, this becomes a nice add on to my collection. It cleans up some of my mon recordings quite nicely, and is enough of a variation of the old tunes, to make it worthwhile additon to your collection.

I'm a long time Eric Burdon fan and own every Animals album as well as War and many of his solo albums. I bought this cd several years ago, and it's one of my favorites. The title, ERIC BURDON - ABSOLUTELY THE BEST, is not misleading as some have suggested. It doesn't say "The Animals greatest hits". He doesn't sound tired or angry. He sounds like he enjoys singing the songs that made him famous. Even though they are re-recordings, they are true to the original arrangements. If you are a fan of Eric Burdon, I highly recommend this cd. If you are looking for The Animals' hits, there are many cds available.

I grow up listening to & loving The Animals & Eric Burdon.

I also thought I was buying the original recordings (to replace my 40 year old lps).

What a great surprise to find that the cd has new recordings but close to the original arrangements, better musicianship, sound quality and Eric still sounds great. It brought these songs back to life for me. I love this cd!
