- He's The King

One of Elvis' better movies. And the songs are also very

good.

"King Creole", the title song, ranks among the best of his

rockers. Leiber & Stoller, what else is there to say. And

the back-up, D.J. Fontana, Scotty Moore, Bill Black, The

Jordanaires. That's what else to say.

"Crawdad", another New Orleans oriented song, is crafted

well and grafted well onto the soundtrack sequence.

I don't even want to think which part of the place Dante

describes, Colonel Tom Parker to be.

But that illegal immigrant deprived us all Presley the Actor.

The pedigree that is KING CREOLE got it the caliber of songs

it did.

- An innovative experiment

This is a re-issue of Elvis' 1958 single. The songs are from the movie soundtrack of the same name. King Creole and its flip-side Dixieland Rock were innovative attempts to meld the then new sound of Rock and Roll with old southern Dixieland music. While the single was not released in the US, it was released internationally and became a big international hit. In the US the songs were released on two hit EP's, both of which top the US EP chart and were certified PLATINUM by the RIAA. While both songs are available on other CDs, this is a nice collectors item for avid Elvis fans.

- Not what I expected.

When I ordered the CD I thought it was a normal King Creole CD with around 15 or more songs. When I received it, there are only three songs and one of them is a second version of King Creole. Reading the ad again, it does show the three songs after you drill down to see the information but overall, it was misleading.
