- A classic

This is a re-release of Elvis' 1958 double-sided hit single. "Don't" was an international hit that went all the way to number 1 in the US. It's original flip-side, the uptempo "I Beg of You" was also a big hit peaking at number 8 on the US singles chart. This CD includes an alternate take of "I Beg of You." A nice collector's item for avid Elvis fans.

- the real thing

This was initally released in the year I was turned onto rock and roll. In March of 1958 I first listened to the premier top 40 station in Pittsburgh (KQV). Number one was Tequila and the "Wax to Watch" was Twilight Time. With my birthday fast approaching I asked my grandmother (the cash cow) to buy me some 45s. I got a half dozen including Too Much. I was disappointed in this Presley tune that didn't do to me what I thought it should. For Christmas, my grandmother made up for it and got me many more higlighted by Don't/I Beg of You. Loved both of the songs and throughout my high school days the only ballad that matched Dont's intensity for me was Maybe (Chantels). Those 2 songs forever put me on the path of loving unfulfilled and unrequited love songs.
